15 accepted into CAS last spring

i called admissions again, and now they are saying hotel school spring transfer applicants won't hear until thursday...

Chazz90, so if I understand that right, it means technically not until Friday cause the online system won't update til late Thursday night. Wow. Less than 4 weeks to get all financing and housing and everything in order. yikes!

communication w/in that office is very off. i just got my admission email! what about your daughter Pmarol?

Brooklyngirl, last spring at ILR: 39 applied, 30 accepted, 26 enrolled, 22/14/13 in '06, 28/21/21 in '05

our acceptance is contingent on your satisfactorily completing any school work now in progress, and on your continuing to uphold high standards of character in activities"

I still have my admission letter from 3 years ago....has that exact same line!

chazz90, what do you mean, your admission email? You mean you were notified of acceptance via email or were sent an initial info-type email?

Beloved daughter is on her way home from work. She'll check her email then. This is living the life of a yo-yo. Her online status hasn't changed from now saying NOTHING but her name and Check Application Status.

All of you students, just remember, for some of us parents, though we hide it, we are sitting on the same bed of nails that you do! Just a little different. But intense... :)

Still no acceptance pack in the mail. It has been a week now. edit: At least now I was able to login to housing, finally.

stm167 and Here&Now,

where did you get these stats from?

hermanns:

Don't worry, you should get yours soon. I actually got mine today. They sent mine out on the 9th....

hermanns,

Have you called them yet? The reason why it was happening to me was because there was someone in the system with my name already, so they never made a new account for me. I called them and was able to sort it out. They made a new account for me.

After that, though, they wanted to put me in graduate housing, but I fought against that, and today I finally got a room in Collegetown. Call them though, because if there is an issue, it'll be better to resolve it quickly over the phone.

Also, when you call, ask to be transferred to Sandy. Multiple times, I explained my situation to the person who answered the phone only to hear back "one second please" and then I was transferred, only to have to explain again. Sandy handles all undergraduate housing.

zakaqel, I don't know where the CAS stats came from, but a packet ILR gave me had those numbers on it. However, it includes GT's.

DarkStar, they added me to housing sometime this afternoon I guess. I actually spoke to Sandy this morning about it, but she said I was not in it and it should be soon. I went ahead and filled out an application, but if I don't like the assignment I have a single I can get in becker (spoke with her about it today). I doubt I can do better than a single in becker since I want a single, so I will probably go with that (don't want a gothic). Will probably be calling back tomorrow.

"All of you students, just remember, for some of us parents, though we hide it, we are sitting on the same bed of nails that you do! Just a little different. But intense... "

That's the truth. This one's done, thank goodness, still waiting on 2 others. Then the decision...

And didn't we just go thru this a few years ago???

Pmarol: yeah, they sent an e-mail. i was caught off-guard haha

stm When I called ILR thety relutantly told me that 19 were accepted last Spring (and that I still have to wait) Where did you get that figure from last Spring?

She did it! She got in!!!!!! And has heard from at least two other hotel friends who have also made it in. Waiting to hear back from the others. And yup, via email.

We're having a dinner out with all the family tonight to celebrate and then will hit the ground running to get ready for this next part of her adventure.

monydad: My son who is USNA'12 and I just went through this LAST year. I need a YEAR off of this stuff! but next kid is coming along... :) Take a deep breath and get ready to help the HSJunior...

Yippee! Such a relief to KNOW!

Pmarol
Woo who!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Dinner and then some. What a great thing for all of you.

when did the email come through?

Let us know about her friends.................
congrats!!!!!!agian

Congrats to your daughter AND you pmarol!

Pmarol: I'm in basically the same boat; one done (for now),this one, then 2 years for the last one.

I take it at least this one is decided for you, congrats.

We're still waiting here though , on some other decisions, and then on our applicant's decision.

what I can tell you all that do get into Cornell as trasfers, PLEASE be prepared to work your ass off, especially if you're coming from a relatively easier college. When registering for classes, DO pile in classes as just-in-cases where you can drop which ever ones you dont like or are hard. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE or BE LAZY!!! MAKE THE LIBRARY YOUR HOME!!!! It is somewhat difficult for transfers to get adjusted to the new academic environment if you do not know what to expect. Also, GO TO ALL YOUR CLASSES, even if you feel like it's a waste of time. It's not!

To answer brooklyn girl and zakaqel's questions, as hermanns had mentioned.. ILR gives out packets with a bunch of literature on the school, one of the pages in there gives the statistics for transfer students from 04-07, but also as hermanns said they include GTs so maybe only 19 were accepted without the guarantee.

Congrats to the hotel students (and parents!) on the acceptances!
