Pmarol still must be reveling in your great news!!. Any rejections to Hotel?

Thanks to everyone. You are great!

I love this sense of relief. I'm enjoying it fully today! Daughter had 3 of her 4 classmates get in. As of midnight last night, eastern time, one person had still not heard. One of the 3 had been rejected as a tf in the past but got in now!

I don't know what time the email was actually sent as she didn't check til she got home from work. Her online page has not changed and shows no updates. I printed the letter of acceptance out to prove it all...

Housing is the number one question on her mind as well as embracing the fact that the next 5 months are going to be, in her words, "hellish academically." :) She did comfort herself by describing some of the Cornell libraries to me that she plans on living in for the first semester. The only luxury demand she's making is living with a full kitchen. She's not willing to eat campus food. She's worked and trained as a chef (read cook) for too long to settle for that. HA! She may change her mind once she's there but I doubt it.

monydad: I've got four, each 2 years apart. My parents sat down and figured I've got 7, yes 7, more years of helping them with applications and fin aid and stuff. One thing I've learned in the last 3 months, just cause a kid goes to college, the apps aren't done! Son #1 is applying for a summer program that I'll have to hit hard starting TOMORROW. Kids do the app parts but I have to do the finance stuff. But to spend a month in Alaska with NOLS... he just can't pass it up. So mom swings into action again. I ought to hire myself out to parents just starting the academic/scholarship world!

Two basic words to all the lurkers: DREAM BIG!!! If you knew my family and our circumstances, you'd never believe the doors that have opened for my kids because we banged on them! Don't give up! Bang and bang and bang!

And celebrate every chance you get! :)

Has anybody else online not heard yet?

I'm pretty sure Brooklyngirl hasn't heard yet...

congrats pmarol...and I think your daughter will love campus food.

Violaghost you're corrrect havent heard yet...Not looking encouraging for ILR.. or me..It's Ok I worked hard to get in but love my school and situation here. There's something to be said for that??

Pmarol what kind of grades , stats did you daughter have?

pmarol, BTW did the girl who get in this time apply to the Hotel school again and this time get in? Interesting What changed for her?

Hey, Brooklyngirl, where are you transferring from? And where did you go to HS in Brooklyn (if you did?) Just curious. I'm from Brooklyn myself, I went to Brooklyn Tech and am now at SUNY Binghamton.

Spoke to Ian today..rejected. He said he was sorry he didnt have a say as the interview went well and was consistent with my essay(what ever that means). Overall there was not any one thing except that they accepted 14 students..a smaller pool this year but for graduate school I should call him blah blah blah.. Nice that they still havent sent me offical notice!!..

I am so sorry. It must be tough hearing over the phone.

14 students is insane, especially if a good third is on here.

Still, it seems that you have found a good fit in your current school. I have no doubt you have stood out from your class already. Still, if you're not satisfied, join me in the Cornell Fall '09 thread.

I did go to go Hs in Brooklyn, South Shore HS.. Transfering from UMD.
Thanks for the support Viola..
Thinking about that wondering if tht inclues GT's?

brooklyngirl.. you go to UMD?!?

We'll I have been going to SUNY StonyBrook but will be transferring now to UMD as I was accepted there.

oh okay, congrats on UMD! I am sorry to hear about Cornell, but I can tell you from experience that you can certainly enjoy the school you are headed to next semester.

Has anyone received their financial aid package yet? I'm debating whether or not just to send the acceptance coupon and accept whatever aid they'll offer. Do they still award you aid even if you send them the coupon beforehand? It almost seems like they'll give you less or none, since you've already committed into attending Cornell by sending the deposit regardless of the financial aid decision...

Anyone?

If you send a deposit you do not have to attend Cornell. You will just lose $400 if you do not. You don't have to send it until the 9th (postmark) though, so no reason to worry about it yet. FinAid will be back Friday and I would think they will be getting ours done next week. You can still get the things you need to done through Cornell bound online before depositing. However, I very much doubt depositing would affect the aid you will receive, but like I said, there is no real reason to rush it when we still have like a week and a half.

Eh, I sent the deposit earlier today lol. I definitely demonstrate financial need, so there should be no reason why I wouldn't receive a fair package. From what I'm hearing, the aid offered to students that applied is pretty generous for the upcoming semester. At this point I'll take the risk, because I just want to complete everything in a timely manner, rather than have to wait last minute and miss a few deadlines. I've completed everything else besides the photo ID. My decision to attend Cornell is definite, because my parents want me to go there no matter what (I'm a first generation college student). Now it comes down to the cost. I was just too impatient lol. Thanks though!

I have do everything besides the photo ID too. I can't find any good pics of me with a blank background. I tried using FotoFlexer - The world's most advanced online photo editor to edit it out, but it didn't work well.
