Well, I’m at art school, so for the art classes that we have to take, we don’t actually have midterm exams. Taking a chem class at Brown that was below the level I took in high school (intro vs. AP) because art school doesn’t allow you to take science classes with labs, so I got 100 on that one. Taking a psych class at RISD, got a 98 but am personally disappointed because it’s a psych class at an art school… As for the art classes, I was asking for grades before the middle of the semester about 2 weeks early, so they simply put down a “gut feeling” except for my painting teacher, who put down a grade that reflected how much I had improved since the beginning of the semester (meaning if I improved some more I would eventually get an A). So basically, 4 A’s and 1 B, A being a 4.0 out of 4.0 here. Yup.

Well it seems that midterm grades dont really matter, you know since they are not really definite. and sometimes teachers just give you A’s or D’s just because they dont have enough materials to evaluate their students. so id say dont sweat it (saying to myself too lol)

i have a statistics test soon, and my teacher is expecting me so much. i got 100 on the last one for some reason whereas everybody else was failing on the test. (he had to give us a chance to drop one test for this, and made extra credit available lol) he literally asked me how one could actually make 100 on his test…lol and yesterday he was like…hey are you going to make 100 on my test again? i was like…ill try…lol anyway it sure made me happy, aaandd also he wrote me a rec letter and everything. so i like him.

i dont feel like im hearing the result soon. i feel like in the middle of Nov.

javakula, what is your standing? whats r ur stats? Whats your major? I’m a fellow CAS applicant (Government). Ironic said they told her we should receive our answers already by the end of November. I think it’s fair game coming next week and beyond. I don’t think we will receive our answers exactly during the end of November, and not earlier.
And just sent a letter explaining your situation. don’t worry. Happy thoughts.

Az and valvsu, good luck to both of you. Hope you ur answers soon! ;)

my gpa is around 3.80ish and math major.

do u know how many students are in the CAS applicant pool?

nop
But every time i see a noob they are usually applying for CAS which sucks
I have a 3.88 and I’m a junior standing. I assume your sophomore?

gosh, my gpa stinks compared to everyone else applying. :(

You took harder classes, though (at least I think you did.)

@jemma, yes im a sopho

Ironic, how was ur chinese food??

Yeah my classes are all must core curriculum classes. My first semester I had computer literacy (i.e computer class lol) and art appreciation. My absolute hardest semester was the last one I took. so relax. Once again not everything is GPA! You’ll do grt Ironic!! ;)

Am I the only one with a junior standing?? Please, don’t let me feel all alone here…

East- No pressure but do u think u will get a chance to read my essays tonight?? I just really want to know what u think ;)…

my chinese food was beyond delicious. i love getting tons of stuff and mixing and matching. mmmmm.

yeah, i guess my classes were hard. i took/take a lot of 200 and 300 level stuff.

and jemma, i’m a soph, but i have junior standing at my current school. i asked cornell to make me a soph though cause i want to spend as much time there as possible

i didn’t know u could flat out ask them?? hmmm Oh well what is done is done hahah
You see they will take that into consideration when they evaluating ur gpa
I bought Kentucky unfortunately and now i have a stomach ache :(

I’m reviewing them right now, Jemma. I’ll send them to you in a second.

they can probably arrange something for you, jemma, should you think about staying another year. I’m sure we’d all like it if you did when we’re there :-]

I feel lame…I haven’t taken any upper level courses. Bio I/II, Chem I, Psych, Sociology, U.S. History, Writing I/II, Speech, Mass Communications, Freshman Seminar, Statistics, Organizational Behavior, Physical Anthropology (don’t…ever…take it…), and Communications Law.

I really can’t wait to take Chem II, Japanese, Genetics, and Fencing at Cornell. Those are the ones I’ve got my eye on
If anyone else knows of cool classes to take without too many pre-reqs for my first two semesters there, please share!

Jemma, question:

If you get into Cornell, how will your permanent living arrangements change? I ask since you’re in a comparable situation to mine, in which I’m sure you don’t feel like moving your stuff back to PR every summer. Likewise, it was hard enough for me to move my stuff from my downtown atlanta campus to my house ,which is about 30 minutes away, back when I stayed on campus. I don’t even want to imagine what it would be like having to move stuff from NY to GA and vice versa at the end/beginning of every semester.

Hopefully there’s a system in which you can just stay on campus during summer months (possibly in the same room?) and not have to continually move your stuff.

They have something called Big Red Storage (or something similar), from what I remember when I was visiting my boyfriend and his housemates were waiting for some boxes to come. You can probably leave stuff like that if you don’t want to do off campus housing. Also, some people sublet their apartments just so people can store **** in them. Haha.

Oh yeah. Phys ed requirement? I am totally doing archery. I like to pretend I’m an elf in a Lord of the Rings book. Lol. If not, then I’ll do something like ballroom dancing or something self defense related so on those long walks back home from the library at 2 am, I can hold my own…ish…

I know for a fact there are summer programs, you can get a job in the area or on campus (I can’t wait to audition for orientation leader, but they’re the MOST competitive jobs on campus, even more than admission lol) and you can even just sign up for the summer semester (but of course, you’d have to pay quite a bit methinks, not sure on the amounts). Graduate students stay on campus during summer all the time. That’d be an interesting thing for someone to call to ask or if anyone has info on that stuff already.

EDIT: Az, transfers don’t have to take any gym classes, but I really wanna take fencing just because…it’s sweet! Haha. Same for archery, that’s pretty cool. I told my friend I’d take intermediate tennis with him in spring, since he’s a freshman taking beginners now. I’m decent at tennis, so I hope some of you can hold a racket because I’ll go crazy if I can’t get on the court once in awhile :P

there’s a lot of storage things by campus. and i’m pretty sure transfers don’t need to deal with the phys ed requirement, or at least that’s what andy said. i think my scuba diving counts because i can get a transcript from the dive shop i’m affiliated with and i have credits from there that usually count as phys ed. but they have tree climbing as a phys ed class wooo. i want to take wines when i’m a senior, but i heard it’s actually really hard. there’s a mushroom class too. summer session is pretty expensive. $970 per credit i believe plus room and board.

Just sent in my midterm grades… they’re all A-/B+ =(… but to be fair, i am taking 22 credits.

Thank goodness most of you guys aren’t CALS…haha…my midterms sucked. I know I’m going to finish with 3 As/A-s and one B-something but I don’t know which classes will be which. Depends on how much acing I can keep up in Psych/Behavior and if I get an A- on my chem national final, then that becomes my average which is awesome. I’m going to hit the ground running after T-giving to study for that one.

My finals are on December 22nd/23rd X___X Stupid community college started on Sept. 8th…soooo late…
