Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

Did anybody that was accepted get the cornell packet with all the forms and the financial aid letter(if applicable)?

I forget acc, did you get in already? I know calpoly did.

When I was accepted for fall, they sent me a big envelope with all the housing info, dining packages, acceptance letter, etc.

But our financial evaluation came about a week later (we didn’t get much, hence me having to reapply.)

water, very true indeed… (this was about the department lol)

I got an email yesterday saying that by now i should have gotten in the mail the big envelope with all that, and the financial aid letter. However, I e-mailed the financial aid office saying that they will send letters by mid december =s … so now i’m confused

It might be your initial financial aid letter. Not sure, haha, don’t trust me, just wait for your packet (since you have one :P)

it was an e-mail from ALS admissions. i guess i was not clear haha.

the dorms on west are pretty nice from what i’ve seen, hence me knowing exactly where i want to be placed and what kind of room i want lol. i have a camera but boyfriend lost my charger cause he’s a poop, but i’ll help brandnew take tons of pictures of random stuff while we’re there. and last year’s humec stats (1 accepted, none denied) makes me happy, but this year there’s already 2 of us applying for the same major :(

also, jemma, i think you’re 99% in. great stats + URM usually equals acceptance lol. plus i loved your essays, and i’m sure they will too.

in case u guys have forgotten…i’m CALS too ! biological sciences

I was admitted in CALS AEM btw

Wow really? Congrats! I remember you from the other thread where we both had similar stats and were applying. I hope this is foreshadowing that I get in as well haha.

Are you an NY resident?

oh really! i remember you too lol. Seems like our problem was not really a problem for admissions. I hope you get in too!!!
well i just had a year in NY on october 31st, so idk if they considered me a resident or not.

Ughhh…T_T…
Okay, here’s my experience of Cornell dorms:
I have seen Hans Bethe, Cascadilla, Mary Donlon and collegetown and west campus apartments. Risley is a freshman dorm from what I remember, and it has the reputation of being “artsy” lol. Hans Bethe has nice rooms, but in particular, a good cafeteria. Cascadilla is slightly more cramped than Hans Bethe, but the rooms are what you make of it…Cornell dorms in general are pretty good. Mary Donlon is a completely freshman dorm so whatever (it’s nice though). Collegetown apartments can be ABSOLUTE crap or pretty decent, just make sure you see what you’re getting into before you sign any forms! West campus apartments are actually nicer for a reasonable price, just prepare to walk a bit…Also expect spiders…The landlords can be negligent or involved. Really depends on the situation.

man now I’m really going to camp out in front of my mailbox every day

hi guys i’ve also been a lurker on this thread for a bit

i may as well ‘come out of the woodwork’…lolz…

i applied to CALS AEM for next semester with a transfer option. i’m a NYS resident and am still waiting to hear back. i think it might be a while before i do, however, because i only submitted my midterm grades like 2-3 weeks ago

just figured i would say hey

I haven’t gotten the big packet yet; i don’t know when it is supposed to arrive, hopefully soon.

so gosnia, does that mean you were a GT?

i think so? i really don’t know the distinction. i’m not going to say anything is “guaranteed” until i am/am not accepted hehe. A lot of the language that they’ve used in their e-mails to me suggests that it is, to some degree, guaranteed. Like they would list the requirements that i had to complete and say “admission will not be granted unless you do this, blah blah blah” and things like “we look forward to you joining the Cornell community in January.” i did have a special application, though. no essays/recommendations, and just some special course requirements. i think it was a special circumstance type thing… i don’t know how many people were given spring transfer options as opposed to fall ones. i’m glad i got one for the spring, though, because it’s probably much more difficult to transfer after a whole year in one place, i would imagine. dunno, though. but that’s me, anyways :)

i’m a freshman, btw

oh, yeah, then you got GT. word, welcome. what school/major?

Yeah we don’t worry about GTs. Ironic, I think he(she?) said they’re CALS AEM.

And no ziiam, we didn’t forget you were CALS :-P

No envelope today…Wednesday’s are usually good for me though…

I emailed a shorter version of a confirmation on my midterm grades being received today. If they don’t respond by tomorrow at 12:30, I’ll probably call the office…maybe I’ll even hear good news (or bad…gulp…)
