i went to a seminar like that in jan. It was OK- they had tours, and went over the different departments and stuff- u could talk to the kids who were helping and get their perspective... They didn't really any interacting games.. just the kids with theire parents taking notes

Yeah, Explore isn't really meant to be all that "fun". It is mainly informational. The fun stuff is in the summer, when they have SPOP (you'll find out what that is later if you decide to attend UCI).

Is there any difference between the Explore UCI days and just going any other day for a regular tour?

Explore has sessions running throughout the day. In the morning, there's a presentation by Admissions, Honors/Research, Housing, and Financial Aid. After that, there are sessions held by each of the schools (Arts, Bio Sci, Engineering, Humanities, ICS, Physical Sciences, Social Ecology, Social Sciences, Undecided). Then there are tours of the campus and of the dorms.

If you just come on a regular day, all you'll get is a campus tour.

Yesterday I went to the Explore UCI day, and man...the campus is just beautiful. Oh man!! 6 hours driving just to see Irvine, and it was just incredible. I'm so glad I went, I think im gonna turn in my SIR to go there now. :)

similar_mindz:

How was it? Were the speakers any good? Which academic session did you go to?

I went also. The speakers were good I thought.

& I went to the biological sciences one. [even thought it was directed to similar_mindz] lol.

lol ok. I thought the speakers were really good, they were the admissions officers who actually read our essays so they kept congratulating us. And I also went to the biological sciences academic session.

Theennnn I went on the campus tour, which I really enjoyed. After that I went on the housing tour to see Mesa Court, and the dorms that I visited looked cozy and comfy.

Overall it was a nice day at UCI

How informative were the Info sessions? I don't think I can make it to the Explore UCI Days and might go on a regular school day or on the Celebrate UCI Day. Would there be the same sessions on Celebrate UCI Day? Were the info sessions persuading or will the campus and housing tours be enough?

I don't think there will be the same sessions on the Celebrate Day...cuz someone asked that question, and the speaker said that the Celebrate Day was basically an Open House to show off the school or something. The info session i went to (biological science) talked about the courses needed to get into grad school, and blah blah. It was informative for ME cuz well, i'm pretty clueless about all that. What do you mean were the info sesions persuading....The campus and housing tour totally won me over with UCI...it's so nice there....

I'm going. 2 more days...can't wait.

i forgot to sign up do u think i can just walk on?

I'd just show up. I figure that people that signed up won't show, so they'll probably have room. Don't let that prevent you from checking out the school.

do u thnk i can just show up and go along w/ them

Yeah, just show up.
