Who's going to "lesser tier" aka not mentioned often on CC- schools?

i totally agree w/ mpicz.
after i got rejected at sps i was all, “ughh… i hate that school” this and that.
except now i’m totally over that.
wherever i go, i think that i won’t trash talk the schools that i got waitlisted at and stuff.
i’m relieved that the schools rejected/waitlisted me too because now that i think about it, i probably wouldn’t have fit in at all.

Is anyone going to Fountain Valley???

A couple of my friends are going to Princeton Day and the Pennington School…

I have officially picked Andover, though it only costs 2,000 to secure a place, so I can change my mind if I want.

benevolent4them, but don’t you have to turn down other schools the same time you accept Andover? How can you change your mind later?

In my honest opinion in terms of quality education and experience, I am betting that a lot of these “lower tier” colleges are actually worlds better than top tier, and ivy league schools.

Maybe he means that he still has until Friday to change his mind. I thought that if you didn’t accept an offer by the 10th, it was gone. But maybe I’m wrong? I know that sometimes there are special circumstances (financial usually) that will allow an extension of time on that deadline. But I always thought it was just that…a deadline; as in, you risk being shot dead after you cross that line, (figuratively speaking of course, though that is the origin of the word).

neatoburrito, the schools we are working with keep reminding us that deadline is a deadline - you must act by mid day of April 10. It sounds to me that they are all set to make those waitlist calls right at 12:01 of April 10. I think that’s fair. People have been given one month to consider their options. Although my decision is still not final yet, I agree we must give them a definite answer by the deadline.

i wish they’d make the revisit days earlier…
there’s so much pressure on where you’ll end up going…
that’s my personal opinion though.

…and it’s Good Friday too. I won’t be home at 12:01. Oh well, I’m not expecting a call anyway. :(

um, tsunamiblade, we’re talking about boarding school, not college.

For a certain school, they have asked me to arrange with my counselor to send grade reports.

I emailed my counselor, and she hasn’t even opened the message yet! What do I do?!?!

Do you have the copies of your grades?
Maybe your parents can fax them over and tell them the official ones will come when you counsellor gets around to it.

Are you sure that’s allowed?!

Not really allowed but if they need to make a decision very quickly, what other choice do you have? Call them and see if that would be allright for now.
Hey, why arent you in school today anyway?

I have spring break :)

I’ll call them right away, hopefully. From post #48, it appears I don’t have any time at all to wait for my counselor because at 12:01 pm tomorrow they’re going to start making calls…?!

I spoke with someone at admissions today and they said they are reviewing all of the wait listed applicants today.

And go yell at your counselor, thats absolutely, un-acceptably un believable.

WHAT SCHOOL WAS THIS?

Do they review waitlisted people by alphabetical order?

And ps, someone tell me quick! When they ask for grade reports do they also mean progress reports?!

My guess is that grayhotchkiss speaks either of Hotchkiss or of Choate.

They usually mean anything that is NEW since you sent in your application. now they don’t know necessarily that you get progress reports, so if they are not stellar, don’t send them. But if they are - I’d absolutely send them.
