No problem redr002. No, I didn't book that one.

Instead, we used Expedia.com and found another one.

Instead of flying into BWI, I changed in to DCA also. Closer drive.

I'm going to the open house in April, but I'm doing an overnight visit in February. They're trying to arrange it for me now!

I jsut hope we wont get stuck sleeping in the car. Seriously, parents can be so stupidly stubborn sometimes.

Yes, I agree with you dressagechick. They always tell us to listen to them, but when we speak, it falls on deaf ears.

Like I said earlier, I doubt all D.C. hotels will be filled and if worse comes to worse, there are hotels in Bethseda, Alexandria, Rockville, Anapolis, and Baltimore (though that's way too far). Good luck on finding a hotel!

Hey everyone! It's certainly been a while since I've been on! I hope everyone is doing alright and is enjoying being a second semester senior (hell yeah!) There are a lot of new names here on the Gtown board that I don't recognize, so to those of you who don't know me my name is Lauren and I was accepted to the SFS EA (and I used to post on the boards a lot.) Anyway just wanted to let everyone know that I'll be at the accepted students weekend in a few weeks and I would absolutely love to meet some of you guys in person! I don't know if there's something already arranged but if not, send me a private message if you're interested in meeting somehow. Anyway I hope everyone is as excited for this as I am and that everything is going well!

Lauren :)

Hey (again) Lauren! I'm sorry I can't say that i'm going to the February open house, but my mom has decided to sned me to one in April (my choice of which)... so if anyone is going to one in April, maybe I'll see you there! ;)

Now it turns out that my brother has a swim meet on those two days so my parents want to send me there alone. And still no hotel reservations.

DressageChick:

Can't one of your parents join you? And if not, and you're going by yourself, how are you going to get around? Do you know the DC area well? Do you know the metro lines and all? And if you still haven't found a hotel, I would suggest using Expedia to find one since you're going by yourself.

That being said, this trip shouldn't be made alone; you could always go in April.

I agree. You shoudl probably postpone it until April- the weather's better then anyway. :)

The only reason why I would go to the Open House in February is if you're a SoCal boy like me where you don't see snow anytime of the year (unless in the mountains) and in later February, we're talking high 60s weather here in SoCal.

I really doubt they'll actually end up sending me down there alone, one of my parents will probably end up deciding to come with me last-minute.

Metro systems are generally designed to be easily navigated by any semi-functional ape. It wouldn't be too hard to get around alone (I'd be going alone if I was at all)...

I've actually been keeping my eye on the weather and it hasn't been too bad at all.

Was the Open House this weekend or later in Feb? I don't remember.

Feb. 25-26

Though metro systems may be operated by a "semi-functional ape," if you're unfamiliar with the city it is better to get a map of the city and the metro lines. Stepping off the plane and then attempting to figure out how to get to your destination is not exactly the greatest and easiest thing to do when you're exhausted. Hey, maybe I'm just not working as efficiently as a semi-functional ape and thus, I will figure out whic train/line to take before I get there.

There's only like two weeks left!!

Yup! I'm so excited. D.C. here I come!!!

2 more days!!!!!!!!!

To solve all of your problems, just stay at the Marriot in the Georgetown Conference Center. That way you dont have to leave the campus or worry about getting to places on time. And yes, the Metro in DC is a lot easier than NYC , except there is not a direct line to Gtown, your best bet would be a cab, especially from the airport.

Ahhh my parents decided not to go because of teh snow storm. Now I have to wait until April.
