who's got the biggest reach?

SAT: 760M 690CR 660WR
3.58 unweighted GPA at a New York City private school--somewhere in the 3rd decile. I have a 3.85 so far senior year.
My main EC is hospital volunteering, which I did 130+ hours.

Far Reaches: <<<penn, brown,="" johns="" hopkins="">>>
Reaches: Emory, Wash U, Northwestern (and maybe Macalester)</penn,>

Targets: Case Western, Carnegie Mellon
Safes: U of Rochester, George Washington University

ACT: 32
SAT II : Math II 800, Math I 770, Bio 740
GPA: 3.4 unweighted
Rank: 6/326
i've goten TEN B's. ONE C.
+2 ISS suspensions (insubordination and violent action)

Applied to Wharton of penn.
BIGGEST REACH EVER^^^^^^^ RIGHT THERE, people

To Toffee:

I know my SAT I score sucks, but I got decent SAT II's

Biology E 710
US History 780
Math IIC 800
Chemistry 800
Chinese 800 (this test is a joke)

By the way, ACT - 30

2 APs
US History - 5
Statistics - 5
(It sucks that I am from an extremely underperformed high school and we only offer 4 AP classes: AP Eng Lit, AP Cal AB, AP Stats, AP Spanish)

My ECs are OK...

Anyway, the GC at our school kind of pushed me to apply for these super, super reach schools...

Ouch on the suspensions... I have an OOS 2-day that I'm pretty unhappy about...

it doesnt hurt THAT much...

3.3 UW/3.94 W. Lots of Cs my sophomore year, because I wasn't a competitive/studious student then. Ha. I've changed a lot.
2190 SATs (I took December, and have fingers crossed.)
790 Korean, 770 IIC, 710 Literature, 770 Writing.
Sure, lots of activities. Not sure if they STAND OUT enough.

Amherst, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Emory, Pomona, Wellesley, Yale.
I have others, but those would be among the top of my list.

Now those are reaches.

Needless to say, I am braced for the stream of rejection letters to come spring. But hey, I have 19 schools. Chances are, I'll get accepted to at least one. I have safeties, anyways.

UG GPA: 3.72 overall, 3.8 major GPA
GRE scores all in 90th+ percentile
1 year applicable work experience

Reaches: Harvard Kennedy School, London School of Economics, JHU SAIS
Matches: UCSD IR/PS, Columbia SIPA, Georgetown Security Studies
Safe matches: NYU MA in poli sci

ugh.

im applying to harvard and princeton.

my stats are like:
4.0 uw. 2180 sat1.

=[

I think that applying as an UG to those schools is scarier...

cy_sunset, i meant that i don't really think those are reaches. well...what i mean is, you have decent stats.

Oh please namkim. 4.0 UW? Clearly this thread isn't for you.

I'm applying to Dartmouth RD with a 3.9 GPA and a 1990 SAT.

a LOT of you guys, it's not really a reach...really, trust me.

^ Yeah, I mean, so far I've only seen a few REAL reaches, I have a 3.5/4.02 GPA, only top 12% rank, and a 30 ACT and I'm trying to get into Tufts, I think that's a pretty good reach.

Vanderbilt, Boston U, NYU, Michigan

ACT: 25
uw GPA: 3.6 w: 4.10
5 APs, honors classes, decent ECs and recs

my scores are so pathetically low that i dont even think they will look at me. im like the definition of a reach!

basically if they don't read my essays first I'm toast. They are by far my strong suit. And everyone knows it goes the other way around, stats first :(

3.8 uw gpa, only in the top 18 percent of my class...applying to harvard and dartmouth

what?? duffman, how can you be ranked so high? i have a 3.7 uw but i'm like in the top 38%. and believe me, no grade inflation at my school. i would be extrememly happy to be in top 12%. i'm also applying to tufts. uhhh, so i win.

^ I've taken 10 AP's, so, I guess that's why I am top 12%

Also, there are ~550 people in my class.

Barnard, NYU

GPA: 3.6 (bad math grades but all honors/ap classes)
SAT: 760v, 570m, 680w.

greats ec's, recs, leadership..

pray for me, please <3
