sarorah, what grade are you in now?

She's in 10th dude. How bout you?

I'm in eleventh grade.

Cool, I'm in tenth. But I've already registered for 11th this year.

I could have been in eleventh, if I hadn't been a transfer student I could have skipped third grade. But they said they could not provide all that for a transfer student because there was a long process and all that.

Wow, I had a similar experience in Kindergarten. lol. So, what college(s) are you looking to apply to?

Depends, I've been trying to get useful advice around here but it doesn't really work that way I guess.

Safeties: Baylor, SMU
Matches: UCSD, UT Austin, Brandeis(maybe)
Reaches: (Maybe Brandeis), Cornell, Rice (maybe a match), Harvard maybe (grandpa teaches there, has friends who know me).

How bout you dude?

CC is good to get suggestions, but most of your college search still is going to be this huge time-consuming process that there isn't a quick way through

Have you ever seen my stats, do you think my safety/match/reach list is accurate. You seem cool, I'd like to have your opinion.

I think you've categorized it pretty well, though I don't really know much about SMU besides a few general things. I'm also interested in UCSD. Rice and Brandeis are probably matchy-reaches, like inbetween the 2 categories.

SMU (Southern Methodist University) is a religiously affiliated university although you don't have to be Methodist to apply. It's acceptance rate is like 70% and I'm interested because if I get National Merit I could get a full ride there, same with Baylor.

No, I've never seen your stats, but I'd be glad to comment on them if you send me a pm.

Okay I'll do that.

they look at ur best math, best verbal, and best writing scores
they dont care when u took it as long as it isnt over 5 yrs old.. but ppl rarely use their 7th grade SATs for admission so its uncommon

uh... to get things back on topic, im taking the sat too

me too. sigh.. preparation for the SATs is so utterly consuming. and teachers don't give us ANY breaks from school work for it. it SUCKS.

My school is way bad at helping students with SAT prep. My counselor recently asked teachers, and most did not even know there was a new SAT.

Dang, that sucks dude. My school has an SAT prep class, you do 9 weeks of math and 9 weeks of verbal prep.

My school only told a few "gifted" students about it, and the rest of us are screwed if we're not proactive.

My school only respects the gifted students, luckily I'm considered one of them. But I still think it's ridiculous. Why am I being helped if other people aren't?

I hate how high schools claim they're equal to all, but they're not. I'm very annoyed by how much praise the students who make up the top ten students get. I congratulate their efforts, but it feels like they're just calling the rest of us stupid
