Who's thinking about/going to appeal?

I’m going to appeal… I don’t really have any “new” information though… my coach nominated me “most dedicated”? heh…

but really i really want to go to USC.

yeah i really do to! It like just started to hit me at first i was fine with rejection but now i am really onw

I don’t know what to think. One second I’m fine and the next I want to go on a rampage. Like in the old game rampage.

Why not start your child at your university in Indiana, see how it goes, and then apply for transfer to USC as a back up plan?

I agree MD, my husband and I WANT him to go to Indiana, HE wants to appeal! I feel he is not throwing himself into his 2nd choice, he half heartedly chose his dorm yesterday.

Kelley School of Business is awesome.

Do you think a last semester with 2 AP’s and 1 Honors and a 3rd Quarter GPA of 4.2 would be sufficient NEW information. Also, the degree I applied for is International relations - global business with a minor interest in a military science offering. This is not offered anywhere else. I dont’ think I adequately described that they are the ONLY schoool to offer this combination. Thanks for your insight

gilgamesh, yes that counts as new information

any new grades, new activities, new extra-curriculars, new sports, new hobbies, new jobs, new internships, new volunteering, new field of study and new sat scores are all bits of information you can use to show them that you deserve USC.

@zircushio
thanks a ton. I also have an internship planned in Japan for the summer between my Freshman and Sophomore year. Oh - God here i go again, hoping!!!

I sent in my appeal today. Anyone know when we are supposed to hear back?

jarstark4: No earlier than mid May from what I understand of last year’s appeals. Best of luck on your appeal!

Mid MAY?! We have to register with another school by May 1st, so how does that work?

Do you mean mid April?

No not before May 1st I believe. USC needs to know what the yield will be. Last year I know people who were notified in mid May. You do need to SIR somewhere else.
May be that some are notified earlier, but I doubt it.
Besides, a successful appeal could most likely be for spring admission.

they will let you know by may 14 i think and they want you to register with another school and if they accept you they will give you instructions on what to do

what are you guys including in your appeal package? how many recs? anything interesting? i was thinking of putting in my other college essay. good idea?

if they feel sorry for me and i beg and plead… do you think they’ll let me in.

here’s an excerpt from my letter:

“PLEEEEEAAAASSSE! I’LL DO ANYTHING…ANYTHING!!! LET ME IN! WAAAAAHHHH!!!”

i just had a quick question, if you do get in by appeal, how does housing/financial aid work? Are you not guaranteed housing?

i have the same question as likeme. In the rejection letter, i think they wanted a 1 page essay plus transcripts for appeals…Should i include a coversheet and teacher/counselor recs…?

Since they did say that they’d like to see new stuff that wasn’t in the application, I’m pretty sure that including recs will be pretty useless, since other people praising you won’t be as good as you providing cold, hard information, like “I just recently one 1st place in blah blah and I rescued a little girl from falling off a bridge a month ago”. Or something like that.

is an aa degree considered new info if theyve already seen my community college transcript (with 60 units, but i havent told them im graduating with 80 units and presidential/dean honors 3.75+, i have a 3.9 cc gpa.)
