Has anyone else had difficulty getting some of their admissions decisions?
I’m not in this cycle, but the USPS is definnitely not as reliable as it used to be.
I never heard back from UArts. Never looked into it, as I was accepted to programs higher on my list, but I may call out of curiosity.
Also, Rider had me listed on their portal as a potential MT major. I did not audition for MT, and I went through the proper channels to have the status changed to Acting. Never was, and received a rejection letter… for MT. Not very happy about how any of that was handled.
My oldest had trouble with her current university and finding out about Grad School. 2 weeks after everyone else was notified she finally got her acceptance. She had to go to there personally…never did get notification via e-mail or snail mail.
My son just recieved his waitlist letter from SUNY Purchase / BFA Acting program. It is postmarked 3/24/15. Looks like it was misdelivered to a neighbor. I especially like how he received it after the April 15 deadline for declaration of wanting to stay on the waitlist.
Oh, that’s awful. Did you call them to see if there was any wiggle room, given the circumstances?
A little surprising that the news (and option to be placed on the waiting list) didn’t come via portal-about a wait list-usually that is done via computer or phone.
Milou, had you inquired when you hadn’t heard anything by April 1?
Definitely call Susan Werner the Acting program coordinator at Purchase - if still interested!
He’s on the waitlist. My apologies for not stating that earlier. My son had assumed that he was rejected but I insisted that he needed to find out because we had paid an application fee and in return he should get a decision letter. It was frustrating that it took 3 emails & 2 phone calls to find out (and they knew that there was a deadline looming). I wish more schools had fully functional portals so you don’t have to rely on the US mail or an admissions person getting back to you.
My S just received his “no” letter from Hartt yesterday. It was postmarked April 15th and dated April 10th. After a couple calls over a week or so to different people trying to get a decision, they asked him to wait for the letter for his decision. He finally got an answer on April 8th in response to an email he sent. He auditioned in November, application complete in November, and was told he met the academic criteria in December. This seems like a really long time for a decision. Not knocking the program, I hear it is very good, but this process just seems extreme to me.
We had the same experience with Hartt…left a bad taste in my mouth.
