D was called back at her audition in November - I know this was a good sign. Does anyone have a feel how good?

Yes, it is a good sign because those who did not get a callback for sure will be not admitted. However, it’s not a sure sign by any means. I don’t mean to discourage you, but I would not read into it too deeply. I auditioned at the first audition last year for the MT program and received a callback as well. I ended up being wait listed, and I am pretty sure only two or three people about of the 10 or so that were called back from my audition group got accepted. I would caution you not to read too much into it. This is not to say that you will not get accepted though. Just my observations.

D accepted today at U of Arts MT yea!

Congratulations! If you have any questions about UArts or student life in Philadelphia, feel free to ask.

I was just accepted from the Dec 5th auditions!! Sooo excited, I love uArts.

D is a freshman MT this year and sooo happy with UArts. The classes, friends, location, all the wonderful local theater, great professors! She and her freshman friends went to the Senior Cabaret a week ago and were impressed and moved by the seniors’ performances. Her dad and I could not ask for more for her - she is truly thriving. So many congratulations to Jake and frantiki’s D. UArts is wonderful. We live on the West Coast (rather obvious from my member name!) and have enjoyed traveling to the great city of Philadelphia too. Where will you be moving from? Again - congratulations!

oregontheatremom and michaelnkat: thanks so much for your kind words. i will definitely reach out to you both via pm or email as she gets closer to making a decision. thanks again!

Frantiki & Jake 6970…my D was accepted at UArts MT also
MichaelNKat…thanks for all of the wonderful information you have provided to the folks on this board!

Congratulations to all of you. This is such an exciting time in your lives. I remember so vividly what it was like for my daughter this time 3 years ago. She also did an early December audition and found out she was admitted 10 days later. Sure changes your stress factor for the rest of your auditions!

Now a word of warning to all the parents of accepted students. Do not, under any circumstances, allow your kid to sit in on classes before the high school year is out - unless you are prepared to fight the “I am so done with high school battle” . My daughter sat in for 2 half days of classes at UArts in the spring, came home like she needed to have a rope tied to her ankle to keep from floating away and announced she intended to mail in her h.s. assignments and sit in on UArts classes for the remainder of the year. I actually had to negotiate with her about the number of days of h.s. she could cut to go hang out “on campus”. It was the one time that living as close to UArts as we do was a real liability! Not withstanding the travails my daughter put me through, if you do have the opportunity to sit in on classes, it is well worth the the time and will give you a much more informed basis to make your final decisions - particularly with regard to that elusive notion of fit.

I want to add my congratulations to those with early acceptances. My son auditioned at the first scheduled audition last year and received an early acceptance as well. What a relief it was for the rest of the scheduled auditions. It turns out he chose U Arts and is absolutley loving it his freshman year. He helped out at the auditions and may have met some of your kids. U Arts has turned out to be a great fit for him. The stress is off now that you have a great acceptance in hand.

HI! I am David, I was the assistant at the dance call. I am a current freshman Musical Theatre Major! Congratulations to you both! If you have any questions about anything please ask me. I would be glad to give any information you want!

Congratulations to your D’s acceptance into Uarts. My D is a sophomore and is THRILLED to be at Uarts. She was just cast for a spring show and is SO excited. I know your D will also love it there!!

bktheater- what show was she cast in? I was just cast in “On Your Toes” I am so happyyy!!!

DancinDG, congratulations! And also to bktheater’s daughter. You both have been cast in productions that will provide you with marvelous experiences.

She was cast in “Average Achiever’s Club”. Congrats to you on being cast in “On Your Toes”! I am very happy for you. My D’s also VERY HAPPY!!

I am also a student at UArts and let me know if you have any questions at all!

Hi there! I am told the auditions are one 32 bar/one monologue and then a cut for the dance portion. The web seems to indicate they dance first…can anyone clarify? Thanks so much!

the first part of the audition is one song and one monologue. then a callback list is posted. If you get a callback you go to the dance call and then do another song and monologue. The song and monologue can be the same because most likely they will be performed for different people.

this is only the second year they have done the auditions like this, that is probably why the website doesn’t exactly match up.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

the callback is only for the on campus auditions right? No call back for the Chicago Unifieds?

Thank you so much…she did get a callback and had a good day. Now we just wait and see!
