Why are some ppl accepted only for spring and not fall. Is it due to admissions?

If ur a borderline accepted kid r u more likely to go in the spring. What % of admits go in the fall? And what grades-admission wise do u need to get into fall

More likely to go in the Spring as in being admitted in the Spring?

And by “What % of admits go in the fall?” do you mean what percent are admitted in the Fall?

English please.

To your third question (or sentence from the looks of it :P), you do not need any specific grade. Here is a link that you may find useful: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-florida/600050-data-2008-summer-b-vs-fall-admissions.html

gpowsang

so basically, smarter kids go in the fall…

and yeah i meant is it more “impressive” to get into Fall basically

Not necessarily, you choose what term (Summer B or Fall) you would like to be admitted to.

gpowsang

I have two friends that were both admitted to spring. They wrote and asked for a term change request and both were granted one for fall. There’s a thread on Facebook of people who were also granted term change requests. It has to do with their numbers, but you can always ask to start earlier.

i also know two spring admits who were granted term change requests.

I’m not sure where you keep getting Summer from. The OP is clearly trying to make a distinction between Spring and Fall. He is correct in that Fall is the semester when the highest achieving (on average) students start. That is the semester that the common data set (and consequently US News) uses for their freshmen class statistics.

^That is the semester that the common data set (and consequently US News) uses for their freshmen class statistics.

Gthopeful, the Common Data Set includes Summer and Fall. Often colleges will quote their profiles based on Fall because the numbers are higher, but the CDS is Fall and Summer.

Freshman Profile

This data is updated in February of 2009

CDS - C9. Percent and number of first-time, first-year (freshman) students enrolled in fall 2008 who submitted national standardized (SAT/ACT) test scores. Include all students who began studies during summer, international students/nonresident aliens, and students admitted under special arrangements.

I guess in retrospect I wasn’t clear. The OP was asking about the difference between Fall and Spring. The language in the CDS is very clear that score totals include Summer students, and so I figured my words would be interpreted as “UF shunts lower-scoring people to Spring admissions so they don’t have to report them on the CDS under FTFY freshmen”.

thanks guys

does anyone know the % of UF students who enroll in the Fall

The same link from above gives you all the numbers.
