Why are the stats on here so good?

The stats of the people on here are ridiculously good. But why? Are they high school kids projecting what they are going to do? People lying? Do smart people just gravitate towards this site?

Yes, yes, and yes.

I’ve conversed with high school sophomores on here that are asking got “chances” for schools, and they are forecasting their stats like two and a half years, making assumptions that they’ll finish high school with a 4.0, and a 36/2400 test score. Forecasting like that is pointless.

People lying? Yes. People often inflate their stats, and EC’s and such, because they came here to hear the answers that they want to hear. They don’t want the truth. Believe it or not, relatively few high school students have ever cured cancer. You would think it was pretty common at times on this site.

Good students gravitating here? Yes. The good students are the ones that look ahead to the future(but not like the 4.0 forecasters of my first point). They care about where they’re going to end up, and come here for advice and recommendations. The less active students that aren’t as concerned about their grades are usually out having fun. The nerds and the over achievers are on here…lol

Beware stats- many are misleading, and many are flat out lies. The biggest joke is “I project a 2800 SAT or 50 ACT” (yes, I’m being facetious)- that’s like me saying I love my beautiful wife (and she is beautiful), but I project that I will be with Kate Upton or some glam model.

People know what they want to hear, and may alter their stats to get some sort of confirmation.

At the same time, not everybody comes here. I think its safe to say the people who come here are here primarily because they want to know what is needed to get into school A instead of settling with B. I want to say that’s why the numbers on this site seem inflated, but nobody can be certain of that.

Mostly this, but I wouldn’t consider all of them especially “smart.” :)

Ambitious?
