wow…people need to realize that this forum is mostly full of kids in HS or kids who are in college right now. Were not 40 yet nor should we act like we are. Yea sometimes jokes can be hurtful but clearly this wasnt meant to be offensive by the poster. I think we can all see that

That might be valid, except for the fact that your major sort of, in some roundabout way, determines what field your working in.

So to choose business because “you’ll get secretaries” is pretty silly.

I didn’t realize you had to be 40 to be respectful.

Clearly, it could be offensive to many other people. I didn’t say he had no right to say it. I just said that he sounded crude. It’s his right to sound like a sexist horn-dog.

The point I made was that the (Power, Money, Women) comment was funny. Then Nxt took it to far. Plain and simple.

ok if u say so

“sexist horn-dog” wonder who took it too far in that reply. I bet one can find more f-words than one reference to sex one these threads. Anyways, I am not replying to argue once again and do agree with you that there might be a lot of kids that are in high school/entering college who are not exposed to such language/jokes. Just to end this conversation, I realize I should’ve worded it differently for the sake of what I just mentioned above. Hope that helps. & btw I am not a “sexist horn dog” to clear up matters.

I saw this thread last week and have been anxious to reply.

I, like many others in here, have enjoyed business from a young age. I saved a lot of my money as a kid while my brothers bought video games, toys, and whatever else. When I was 16 I was able to buy my own car, but my dad said he would split the cost with me. I would regularly do chores around the house that my brothers wouldn’t do because I was able to get my mom to pay me for doing them. I constantly asked if there was anything I could do to make money. Obviously the money is important to me. It’s not everything in life, but I definitely enjoy having money, and I strongly dislike having to owe money to people. I’m also a problem solver. I really enjoy taking a situation and trying to minimize or eliminate the problem, while maximizing productivity.

I also used to (and still do) dominate Roller Coaster Tycoon!

Capitalism 2 is the best business simulation game ever. RCT doesn’t even compare.

If you’re going for the money, shouldn’t you be an engineering/CS major?

^No. The starting money is better in CS and Engineering, but (in Eng especially) there is a relatively low salary cap. Engineers being engineers salaries are usually capped at around 100k.

^ ok, then how many years does it usually take for a financial analyst to earn as much or more than CS/engineers? speaking of the average case, of course.

Financial Analysts are entry level positions. That being said 50-60k is a regular starting salary with advancement very possible and in many cases very fast. If you do well at a large company (Fortune 500) you will find yourself making 6 figures (or close) within 6-8 years generally.

Are all your questions about compensation? You’re not even in college yet…start worrying about doing well in high school and your core classes and less about how much you will be making in 5 years when you graduate.

Edit: I didn’t even see that you started another thread asking about how much analysts earn. Ha…

I want a BMW M5 so I have to go into business

M5 is on my list!

I prefer the M3 coupe.

In response to the responses from my first response:

The sentence that mentions the Sim and Tycoon games was meant to demonstrate (since it obviously didn’t click for at least someone) that I’ve had and been developing a sense of how to produce positive money flow and I’m interested not only in managing numbers, but making decisions.

I would also like to point out that there were multiple sentences in that post, which still exist even if you didn’t get that far, that could have possibly given you some clue that I wasn’t going into business because I thought it would be Sim City.

Also, it seems as though I’ll need to clarify (for some of you) that the BMW post was literally explaining which model I prefer, not my reason for choosing business.

Really? I didn’t think that finance grads could earn that much…

naughty by nature lol

nxt they cant handle jokes about banging secretaries because they are little infants.
