i'm a rising senior... and somethign about ithaca caught my eye.... i like the small sizes, and the high-level music/theater programs.. plus their intensive communications/ interdisciplinary studies (can u tell that i have no firm plans on a major?lol) their other departments sound good and all the students seem to be smiling in the pictures :)

my question is that the school seems on paper to be very similar to many other scholls in terms of the students...

what factor made you decide to choose ithaca?

My son chose Ithaca College because they offer an unusual program for music majors that allows them to take classes in liberal arts and another field as well. It's called "Music in Combination with an Outside Field." He will be a piano major and his outside field will be theatre. He also liked the size, their commitment to undergraduate education and the feel of the campus.

thanks! .. any one else?

The town! Don't get me wrong, I know you already know about all the great educational factors of the school, as did I when I visited for the first time in April... But the deciding factor for me was the amazing town. There were just so many shops and cafes and.... everything really. It just seems so alive to me... That's basically what did it here.

My D chose IC for the excellent Theater, Film, Music programs; the school size is right, good scholarships, and great feeling about the school, students and faculty during our the 3 visits. She also likes the access to NY, Boston, Philadelphia (we are from the northwest) and at the same time she wants to experience the many outdoor activities the area has to offer. Ithaca is a very unique college town (40,000 students in a town of 20,000 residents) with a blend of people, culture and tons of arts.
