Why did you pick UGA?

I want to make a GSU or UGA thread but I know everyone will choice UGA. So I'm making a thread asking why did you pick UGA and what did you like it or want to go to it. I know I will like where I go but I like opinions. And if you know someone from GSU or a friend share his or her opinion etc.

the had the major I wanted (Japanese) and my grandparent’s house is nearby. Nice cheap place to stay
Also, I am really looking forward to joining their Air Force ROTC program

Nearly all of the top 15% of class got accepted into UGA.

I’ve heard their business program is pretty legit. And I’ve heard great things about the Honors program, but the students in it are pretty weird. I mean, Quidditch? Really? And I’ve been to Athens and they have the most attractive student body I’ve ever seen. Great incentive.

GSU is a good college too. If you have HOPE, the tuition shouldn’t be that bad.

Well, the only Georgia school I applied to besides UGA was Mercer. My choice ended up being between UGA and the University of Hawaii. I think the biggest factor into choosing UGA was finances. I wouldn’t have to pay tuition, which is a GREAT thing, especially since I’m trying to save for med school. I would’ve had to pay OOS tuition at Hawaii, and it would’ve been expensive even with the scholarship they gave me. I visited both schools, and I just felt more comfortable at UGA. UGA also had a much nicer and much more compact campus than UH. I’m also not a fan of hot weather, and I can’t swim, so living in Hawaii just didn’t seem like my kind of thing. I gave up the most delicious food in the world, but UGA felt like it fit more. I also felt like UGA had more to offer in terms of academics.
