I'm a little curious. What is it that CollegeBoard does to warrant charging 11.25 for each university?
Is it just me, or isn't it a little expensive? If the scores electronically, shouldn't this be free?

College Board is a business, and like all businesses, has expenses, so their services are not free. However, when you sign up for the test, you can have scores sent to 4 colleges for no additional fee if you indicate this by a certain time frame. For students who meet certain low income criteria- the school guidance counselor can give them a fee waiver for the SAT test, and that includes the 4 test scores, and the student can also request 4 college application fee waivers.

The SAT is a business. They make a lot of money from high schoolers. And sending scores is free if you do it soon enough :P

If it is totally free, you may request sending scores to all schools. Everything has a cost associated. You may wonder more why do we need to pay for CSS profile to get financial aid from some schools. Some schools would also charge a fee for transcript.

Not to tail-off this thread. But I am an international student - does being in a low income bracket say in currency translation of $30000 warrant in me applying to schools for free?
