Why do YOU wanna go to college?

There’s more opportunity and all different kinds of people. Also, the challenge. It’s not going to be easy, I have to work even harder than I’m doing now, to graduate and get into a Vet school.

@ajhhs12 I’m actually not allowed to even apply to Michigan, because we’re such diehard Buckeye fans. Actually, I could apply, but my parents wouldn’t pay one cent of tuition and we’re OOS. :)

Anyway, my top school is Vanderbilt. At first I didn’t like it because there’s no academic dance program (no major/minor, just classes), but I quickly realized that not having a dance program was a small loss compared to what I would gain at Vandy. My intended major is in Peabody College, which is one of the best education schools in the country. I researched the program I would be in, and I realized that at any other school, I’d be settling, because no program fits me as perfectly as this one.

Also, I love the culture of Vanderbilt. I’m from the midwest, and Vandy is more southern, so I can’t wait to experience that culture. Sometimes I think I should have been born in the south, because it’s just how my personality is wired. :)

I can’t wait to go to college, and hopefully Vandy!

I want to go to college because I adore learning and working academically, I want to get out of my house and my state, I want to live on my own and meet new people, and I want to get a great education because I need a masters for the career I want to pursue (clinical psychologist).

Princeton is my dream school. I love the community, the intimacy, the high level of education, okaymaybetheprestige, the location (NJ isn’t my favorite, but I <3 the east coast), and the level of education. Plus, they offer everything I want (I can double major in English and psych and get a minor in French). And ultimately…I’m shooting for a major school because I want to live up to my full potential, whatever that is. If I don’t get into Princeton, then okay–it’s not my potential, and I can go to the next best place I get into. But I love challenging myself, and I can’t do that at community college or the safety universities I’ve thought of attending.

same as above

I want to have a career in public service, and It’s harder to establish yourself without a top school’s education. (Look at the presidents; most of the them went to ivies or other prestigious schools.)

My dream school is WUSTL. I think that the school would put me outside of my comfort zone (midwest compared to south) while having many accolades that draw me (the new South 40 buildings, including more). I feel that St. Louis would be a great place to stay for college. Plus, I feel that the diversity is something that I would want to experience. Lastly, I heard there is amazing food there!

But to answer the thread, I want to go to college to gain knowledge that will help me achieve my goals in life.

For the:
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Yeah, I guess that without a college degree, it’s nearly impossible to get a good job (not one at a local fast food chain) and hence, a better future and lifestyle.

^I agree. I’m doing it for the money.

Eventually for the money because i want to work in the medical field but also for:
-prestige
-self-accomplishment

 • figure out exactly what i do with my life
 • find myself (sounds kinda weird but i know that college changes a lot of people)

Most of me wants to go so I can further my knowledge in Physics, meet others who are doing the same, and create more career prospects. A small part of me(the part the needs to be controlled) wants to get as far away from my family as possible and party every once in a while.

To make money, even though college is ironically expensive.

Haha. My mom lives her youth through me which is why I will be forced to attend college or be given the cold shoulder my entire life.

But on a serious note. I want to attend college because I want to be someone my family can be proud of, to live my youth before getting a job and settling down, get a decent job with a good wage to support me, and have fun on campus learning about new things. I’m actually one of those weird people that look forward to the academic challenge.

To become a neuroscientist :D

I thought there was no double majoring at Princeton

There are a couple of reasons that I want to go to college. First would be to, nerdily enough, expand my knowledge of the areas that I am interested in. Second would be to look marketable to future employers. I suppose third would be, going along with that, the ability to make more money and live comfortably in future.

Maybe the whole reason I’m going to college is to put off fully growing up for another 4 years. :)
