<p>Why does cornell arts and science college have such a low acceptance rate?</p>

<p>I just checked it and it seems like it was like 16-17% ish for the class of 2011.
I thought Cornell was easier to get in than other ivies, duke and the three top liberal arts college. But why is the Cornell a&s acceptance rate comparable to these colleges? hm... maybe it's just that the acceptance rate is low but in actual reality it is still easier to get in?</p>

<p>Cornell's admit rate is simply inflated by the endowed colleges that has to cater to in-state NY students.</p>

<p>Cornell may be "easier" to get into than some of those other schools, but it is still very selective.</p>
