Why does it take CB so long to send SATs...electronically?

to colleges, I mean.

Have they not heard of E-mail? It's pretty instantaneous, last time I checked.

Very interested in the answer to this question. I assumed the electronic send process was automated (or, required limited human interaction at the very least) but the 10 and 15-business day delays have made me wonder if CB must send electronic scores manually every time.

The Rush option tells me CB is capable of sending scores in a timely fashion - i.e. less than 5 business days - so perhaps the long delays are part of a scheme to racket up more revenue via Rush Delivery fees? Wouldn’t surprise me.

You may order scores and within three days they may get into a computer file designated for the applicable college. That college may download scores every two weeks or even longer and does not want them sent otherwise because they don’t want thousands of separate emails with individual scores coming in. If the score got into the file the day after the last download it won’t go to the college until the next download for that college. Many colleges do not take rush scores because they only take scores through the electronic process and thus get them when their usual download occurs regardless of whether you order them regular or rush.
