Why doesn't UNC give those who applied early action a notification date? Obviously we cannot do anything about it, but with other colleges we are given dates set in stone while UNC leaves us with an "end of January...

Last year they said Jan 21. This year if they’re saying “end of Jan” with out a definite date, I’d count on the 31st. It seems to get later every year.

It’s kind of weird, because last year they gave a date (and then pushed it back a week). I’m guessing that they were anticipating a ton more apps because of the common app, so they want to give themselves enough room to finish them all. I would bet lots of money that it will be the last Friday in January, around 4:50 pm.

I want a job in UNC admissions. Doctor says I need more sleep.

I really think they just get them out as soon as they can. They’ve named a date over the last couple years - and then had to delay, etc …so I think they are now just saying by end of Jan to not disappoint.

Last year the delay was caused by a changeover in the computer systems that were causing them a lot of problems. They may have pushed back the date to give themselves a little cushion, just in case.
