why emerson?

so why would you guys choose emerson over other schools?

Have you ever visited?
It...it has this delicious sense of community, but it's literally right in the middle of Boston. It's across the street from the Boston Common, and some cool graveyard from like, the 1700s.
It's also in the middle of the theatre district.
People at the school, they KNOW what their passions are. You won't find the undecided-so-i'll-be-an-English-or-Psych-major kids. The people there are also incredibly talented, and do remarkable work for ANYONE, but especially so when you remember that they're only college students.
The people there are driven, but in a friendly non-cutthroat way.
But, at the same time, everyone there is into *every*thing. That's one especial thing about the school; the interdisciplinary studies program. It gives the actor a chance to work on his photography, the speech therapist an opportunity to study poetry.

And there's Boston itself; it's such a lovely city. I live in Chicago, and i always figured it was THE best city in the world, until i visited Boston. It's such a potent mixture of history and technology and culture and beauty and nature.

Sigh.

I probably SHOULD be saying that it's goddawful, so that y'all won't go and i have better chances, in the case that i'm deferred.
^.^

yeah. i visited it. and i absolutely loved it...which is why i applied early. but i just got into two schools and now im having a really tough time picking which one.

but all of those are good points. gooodd this is hard.

What other schools are you looking at?

yeah, if you've visited, and you're a good fit, YOU'LL LOVE IT!

i loved the school but dont really like boston but emerson is still my first choice..the campus is amazing and i applied ED for a B.A in Acting..when iwent to audition the other auditioners were so cool and chill and i could see myself being friends with all of them!!!!!! the sense of community is what i liked most when i visited..hope i get in, still havent gotten my letter yet and its tuesday..ah im going insane

euuugh. yeah. i originally was going to apply for acting. i feel for you. most theatre students get deferred, most film students too, i just got lucky :)

I was looking around Facebook groups for people who got into Tisch at NYU early decision (I applied RD; I guess I don't have $50,000 in my back pocket) and everyone who's gotten in so far seems to be a complete jerk. They're all pretentious and snobby and really annoying. Then I looked at a Facebook group for those who have gotten into Emerson, and they all seem to be nice people; very supportive and they seem normal. That's a huge plus for Emerson for me.

ahah no kidding, i've been searching and poking around all of my friends "________ 2011" groups on facebook and emerson's is clearly superior. i have not met anyone i don't like yet. and another really great thing about emerson that i've found is that we all like the same things. when i first looked through future emersonian's favorite books, music, and movies i was ecstatic at what i found. there are people in this world that like 1984 as much as i do? whaaat?

seriously, emerson gets better and i get more excited for next year every day
eeek!
