hey this may sound stupid but could I say that I want to get into Emory because it will help me to get into Hopkins med school? Or is that shooting myself in the foot?

Anyone?????

No, it is more like shooting yourself in the mouth because that obviously is where your foot is located.

I hope you are kidding, CSUtoEU.

ok........ yeah thx : X I'll shut my mouth.
Wait, what about talking about an experience you had on campus with a student all seriousness.

I know that this is a short answer, but how long can it be? I'm running near three pages... In this case is it the longer the better or the short and sweet?

I just noticed how stupid that was. For anyone who hasn't looked at the applcation yet, it is half a page. I'm a mess... :(

some were I saw a page and a half

You are not a mess. Just let Emory know that you want to attend school there to prepare for medical school or a career in medicine. Delete references to any other college, university or grad school. If you PM your essay to me, I'll read & critique it for you by tomorrow. Most likely, your current essay is a good first draft that simply needs to be revised. A second set of eyes can help organize your thoughts.
P.S. Don't use a single space format. Double spaced is easier to read. Admissions folks read hundreds of essays each week, so clarity, brevity & organization are important.

Question: Wait. for those who applied ED and got accepted already, did anyone use single space?

ColdWind: I understand that now...

Mine was slightly over 3/4 page, double spaced, if that helps.

Mine was about 2 pages with 1.5 spacing.... on the commonapp there wasn't a limit and I decided that if I cut the essay, it would lose what made it special. Admissions people have told me they don't care how long it is, as long as you don't ramble and everything you say is necessary to the essay. Along with that, they don't care how short it is, as long as you get out what you need to say.

Okay I feel better, thanks. I mean I have alot to say but I don't want to ramble.
ColdWind: Thanks for the offer, but I believe I've got my ideas together. :)
