Okay so I applied to UT Austin in September. It's halfway through January and I haven't heard back...I check my status a good three times a day because it's my top school. For some Texas state schools there's an automatic admission program and I didn't qualify, but I still have good grades. My highest SAT score (I took it three times) was a 1950, I'm in a lot of school/extracurricular activities and have job experience, and I'm in the top 11% of my class. So I'm wondering why it's been 4 months with no reply, when I know other people have gotten in already...I don't know if I should email my admissions counselor or what. I can't keep waiting around because even though it's my top choice, I've gotten in everywhere else I applied with scholarship offers to almost all of them. So if I wait too long and I get rejected to UT, I might miss out on the other schools...any advice?

I just know it’s tough to get in if you didn’t make it automatically. My nephew had strong stats (Eagle Scout, excellent trumpet player, etc.), but he didn’t make it in last year. He ended up going to school in Indiana.

I wouldn’t worry. Most applicants haven’t heard back. UT target release date for admissions is March 1. The typically release them 7-10 days prior.
