Why I don't like these kinds of things

hey guys (both parents and students),

now i'm not bashing this forum or anything, but i just wanted to offer my opinion on these "chances" threads. as a former college applicant and waiting in the wings for transfer admission, i can say that college admission is mostly random. take a deep breath because the places that people feel entitled to go to or "deserving" doesn't mean anything at all.

this brings me to the "chances" threads. i don't like these because these are an anonymous way for someone over the internet to bring your morale down. so don't get discouraged just because someone here says that your ECs aren't great. it all depends on whether the admissions officers wake up on the right side of the bed on the day that they walk in to review committee.

so keep strong and be positive about admissions!

True

What I also think is ironic is how people who are beginning chances threads state that they will chance others when they need others to tell them what their chances are.

I’m pretty sure there are numerous threads about this topic. Really necessary to create another one?

Just askin…
