^No I mean at the very least Cornell = Duke.
At the very most, Duke > Cornell

so wait, do you think that possibly cornell > duke?

john clearly just said that duke >= cornell. thus, duke < cornell would never hold.

anyway, this argument is moot since duke just won the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS and i think we can all agree that duke >>>> cornell

haha yeah, me and john are on the same page for sure, i didnt mean to argue at all. i would just say that cornell at best (or most) is equal to duke (meaning it could never be better). inversely, i would say that duke is at least equal to cornell. its all a matter of which college you say first in the statement. that being said, i agree, who cares when the just won that championship babyyyyy. where was cornell…?

^haha. Cornell was stuck in the snow somewhere in New York.

I would certaintly choose Cornell or any other ivy over Duke. Probably Duke over NU, but Johns Hopkins or Chicago over Duke any day. It’s just how it is…i have no clue how Duke went up to top 15 in the USnews rankings. It must be those lousy southerners bribing the USnews. Worldwide, Duke is never mentioned lol…

^^ Lol, the guy who goes to Berkeley spent his last 5 posts disparaging Duke.

33hours = ■■■■■.

Did i say anything wrong in my post? It certaintly looks right to me. All the things i posted in here are pretty accurate.

@33hours: what exactly do you mean by “i have no clue how Duke went up to top 15 in the USnews rankings.” duke has been in the top 10 every single year since the creation of the US News rankings except for 1989:

[U.S. News Rankings Through the Years](U.S. News Rankings Through the Years)

33hours probably got rejected hard by Duke…he probably on got admissions in UCs only, hence he’s pitifully going on about how Berkeley is superior.

33hours, I hope you have a very healthy life. Otherwise you will almost certainly be relying on Duke technology and research to save your life.

I would hate for you to have to rely on Duke for anything, as the university obviously is of no importance worldwide.

Not to mention US News just ranked Duke 14th in the World Rankings, above Cornell, Dartmouth, Brown, Stanford, Northwestern, and Berkley. Not too shabby.

sg12- do you have the link to that? i’m surprised to see duke was ranked above stanford.

@ osuforme: hahahahahahahahahahaha

Top 400 universities in the world…

[World’s Best Universities: Top 400 - US News and World Report](http://www.usnews.com/articles/education/worlds-best-universities/2010/02/25/worlds-best-universities-top-400.html)

rankings don’t matter. prestige is based on the perception of the people. we can keep saying tht duke is a “peer” of “lower-tier ivys” but it wont change the fact that the 8 ivys are viewed as more prestigious even though duke is probably better than half of em.

also duke’s “southern” character doesn’t help. everyone in the new england area will probably see duke as a backup to other elite institutes and see smaller LACs as more prestigious.

it’s just the way it is. its stupid to argue about prestige like this. quality of education on the other hand is a completely different ballgame.

these rankings seem a little strange to me… how is dartmouth 85, 50 places behind brown, and 30 behind BU??

lol i got into duke and other ivys including all ucs. Even if i didn’t get regents to Cal, i would still have chosen columbia and Cornell first ahead of Duke anyday. Regents Cal v Duke? No brainer… No aid from Columbia and Cornell v Duke? No brainer

Ok people…just a quick q:

For a pre-med/bio person would u pick Berkeley, Cornell, or Duke?

I like Duke and Cornell best, but my dad saw stupid US News rankings about berkeley
and well i wanted others’ input.

my dad is a former Bear and really biased. he’s pretty much gonna force me to berkeley unless i get some stats
