I’m pretty sure most people on CC aren’t that smart but do work hard.

I’m damn lazy though, I should be crucified for it.

I personally think that the only way to know someone’s intelligence is to have a real conversation with them or read something they’ve written.

Not all of us are smart. : /

The kids on this site are not natural geniuses (at least not entirely). We’re industrious nerds who work for our grades and accomplishments. The kids with the most impressive stats from what I’ve seen personally don’t spend their free time on college admissions forums or even the Internet in general. They’re out debating, or playing concert level piano, or doing research, and when they’re not busy with that, they’re with their friends. This site is for people who think getting into college is something they can work towards, a system to game, as opposed to the natural result of intelligence.

well these kids on this forum are mostly all who care so much they have to be on this forum 24.7 and usually they care just as much about their grades ;)

maple you have started a necro-ing trend!

I got into Princeton.

^^lol a quick look shows people incl. Invoyable, Poseur, and StevenSeagal already necroed several posts. I was just following a natural form of CC expression

^epic gj

Hm…I’ve encountered some pretty “dumb” people here lol…(like me, relatively speaking)
I love this site though. It’s just the general stmosphere that’s so appreciated, especially if you live where I live (slits throat from boredom). You guys who feel bad for seeming inferior to the other people on this site shouldn’t be complaining, honestly; imagine where we’d be without competition, inspiration, or higher standards.

Where I go to school, nobody holds the faintest respect for intelligence…lol all my friends are either from accelerated classes or tennis. The competition is DEAD because nobody gives a care about college or beyond. B grades are for “nerds” and “geeks” (they don’t even know the difference lol?!), and C’s are celebrated as legends, practically. Our AMC prep group has like…six people. There has only been one 36 ACT in the history of our school. No 2400s. You get the general idea.

Saying so, I go on here every so often to keep myself sane. I don’t think anyone should sniff dismissively at all these incredible stats on CC chance threads…the fact that people you know lack this kind of determination and spirit does not render these accomplishments fictitious. I’m actually quite inspired by them, as naive as that sounds. Perhaps there are several fabricated resumes once in a blue moon, but for the most part, this is an amazing population of motivated high school students focused on succeeding in ambitious lives. I applaud that.

No one should speak despairingly of the rampant “smartness”. The other people are only smart because we allow ourselves to remain dumb.

(inhales big breath)
-end rant-

tomjonesistheman is a ■■■■■…how did you get into princeton if they dont have early action?

it’s possible to get likely letters from schools after applying RD

princeton doesnt send out any non-athletic likely letters…harvard sends out 10, and i think yale sends out 100. princeton is different though.

^Questbridge, silly.

ohhhh…hahahah my mistake…congrats to tomjonesistheman!

Really? You bumped a thread that hasn’t been posted in 3 months to say that? o.O

uh sorry? i didnt realize i bumped the thread.

What did you think you did to it?

I dont care what anyone of you say, runningncircles1, is right. If anyone has a different opinion ill love to hear why they believe that.

^I disagree, but only because IMO it is easier to change yourself a bit than to get a 160K pay raise.

^I see where your coming from, i know 40K is very low(for Long Island) but I think it should be ones goal to be able to say at the end of their life, that i did good and im happy and satisfied with myself. Yeah, i know money means a lot in this materialistic world we live in, but does it mean enough for you to constantly compare and battle yourself with others for it. I think there are more important things to be worrying and caring about than money.

Idk i might be interpreting this wrongly but being true to yourself is more important than money.
