i gave me teacher over a month to write my college letter of rec, and my gatech application is due tomorrow. I sent her like 5 emails over the past week, cause there are some problems with my account and gatech told me to tell my teacher to mail my rec in. I literally begged her now to turn it in by tonight cause its gonna take time to mail in the rec. she said she will do it tomorrow. she didnt say sorry or give any sort of apology, AND I GAVE HER A MONTH TO DO IT.

am i overreacting/going crazy or is my teacher irresponsible?

Do you see your teacher often? I would go have a conversation face to face, because as much as I’d like to think otherwise, high school teachers are insanely busy. I know its frustrating because you requested a month ago, but it’ll be okay. Also, I would go ask your counselor what options you have if this keeps on going, because if it gets too severe, I would want some guidance.

I would definitely go talk to her then. I asked for a rec letter for an internship from a teacher at a different school, and it took me 3 weeks to realize that the emails weren’t working. I showed up, asked her really kindly about the rec letter, and it got submitted in two days. It really helps to have that conversation, putting a face to the request.

@leannatorres yes. the guidance counselor knows my account is messed up, and she is gonna be the one who mail the rec (cause i am not alloed to see it). she is the one that told e that shee needs the rec soon, and told me to tell my teacher that.

@Mangiafuoco lol, she was a good teacher thoughh. she has REALLY good ratings and everyone likes her. i liked her too. i just hate her for being really irresponsible on her part now. writing a bad review wont do much cause all the other reviews are positives and people would think my comment was just written by a kid that failed her class and didnt try.

Regardless about whether or not you’re overreacting, you have to deal with the situation how it is. Posting ranting threads on College Confidential isn’t going to help anything. Just accept the situation and deal with it. You can always just explain the situation to the college’s admission staff. I’m sure it’s something that happens quite often.
