Why is Rutgers so dang hard to get into?

Okay, so I’m an NJ resident (obviously lol) and Rutgers is my dream school. I have a 3.6 GPA, I’m in some honors classes (and hopefully taking 2-3 AP classes next year). I don’t have my SAT scores back yet, but I got a 1230 on the PSAT. I have decent extracurriculars, and a lot of community service.

I’m not aiming for the more selective schools here: I want to get into RBS, but I’ll be satisfied with SAS and transferring to RBS.

But I am concerned -scratch that, almost certain- that I will not get into Rutgers. I have visited the other state schools that are less selective, but they all seem almost like community colleges. Rutgers has pretty much everything I want in a college, and I don’t understand why it’s so hard to get in.

Don’t you think other people like the school for the same reasons you do?

Potentially MANY people?

And that the school has fewer spots for freshmen than there are people who want to go there?

Mystery solved. :stuck_out_tongue:

@jerseygirl188 Rutgers is getting more competitive but you stats are on track for admission. Take a look at the stats of admitted students and you will se that there are lot with lower stats than you that have been admitted. For RBS just concentrate on boosting your SAT a bit. My daughter got into both SAS and RBS and, while she had high SAT scores, her grades were about where yours are.

If Rutgers was easy to get into it too would feel like a community college.

Honestly. I had a 29 ACT and 1860 SAT. And a 97.52 gpa. Scores aren’t everything. Because I got into SAS, NB nursing (accepts like 60/3000) and pharmacy . Scores help but if you have good ECs and service and a good essay no need to worry. Because my scores were sub par for Pharmacy and nursing but I got into the two most competitive in Rutgers. Keep your head up and work hard.
