it has rolling admission AND the deadline was Dec. 1. Weird I know. And they basically choose who to admit based solely on a GPA-SAT score formula, so as long as they transfer your ACT to SAT you have a pretty good, but not shoe-in chance. I know because they admitted me a day after they got my SAT score hehe. I was thinking that I would only go there as a last resort, but after looking at the honors college info I think that Rutgers is a good option for any student (especially in NJ)

oooh I actually found out what that whole SAT equvalent is in ACTs, and it's like 150 points higher than I thought. You are totally in.

Rutgers is one of the best universities in the nation. Although it is not in top 10 in overall ranking, it is certainly in top 10 in the following topics:

Information Science
Communication
Computer Science
Mathematics

I think Philosophy at Rutgers is in the top 5, if not #1. At least for graduate school...

Anyone know how the Psychology deptartment ranks?

also, did you check out the list of professors, staff they ahve at rutgers? oh myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. they all have top-notch educations and have like the highest degrees in their field from ivy leagues or comparable institutions.

There are alot of good things about Rutgers (New Brunswick), but if you are a commuter the traffic and parking situation can be TERRIBLE! Some of the dorms on College Ave have ridiculously small rooms, but there is a party going on somewhere all the time. There are also plenty of club sports/ activities to get involved in, and the student centers (one on every campus) do have some good food. The gyms are well equipped, but get crowded at about 4pm.

I can't remember how the Psych Dept. ranks, but I can recommend Drs. Atwood (Personality) and James (Abnormal). Those were some interesting classes, to say the least.

It wasn't always the safest place, though; and I have heard about certain crime that wasn't reported.

I can't remember the source, but I do remember the average SAT score for people admitted into Livingston was 1160 I think; about 100 lower than Rutgers College.

I am a current student at Livingston College (I was also accepted into RC). I have found that Rutgers College students are a little more bright and Rutgers College is harder to get into. That said, I will be transferring into the SAS next year cause I can't stand Livingston's rep (not to mention horrible advising).

Also, Rutgers was not my first choice, but after 1 semester, I have enjoyed the student life very much. There is always something to do, the student body is nice overall, and the party scene is great. The food is really good at Busch. My only complaint is the school's "cheapness" which I can credit to the endowment, being a public university, and the budget cuts. Also, there is some crime from time to time.

Rutgers Is An Amazing School! I Live In Nj Ans Plan To Enroll 2morow! Yes Some Of The Campuses R Rough But Nbrunswick Is Large With 5 Individual Campuses. Each Having Its Own Personality. It Is Also Among The Top 100 Colleges In The Country With Its Theatre Program In The Top 5. I Highly Recommend It And Hope To C U There

I will say this about Rutgers, we're not at the point yet where students have to pay for scantrons. I laugh at my friends at other schools when I hear this.

Also, the new biomedical engineering building is absolutely amazing. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

edit: I just read my post for November 2004...scary stuff..I was still in high school and deciding between Rutgers and other schools. Given the chance to do it again and make a different choice I probably would. :/

Science_please confused on your last post? are you saying , give the chance you would have Not attended RU? why?

At this point, having almost finished 2 years here at Rutgers, I can say that if I could go through the decision making process again I would do it differently and I probably wouldn't be here. Rutgers is a huge school and I think that there are many things that it needs to work on. We try to claim some sort of "public ivy" status but we are far off. Classes are huge and indeed as my classes get more advanced, some of them are getting bigger(which is weird). One would think that as classes get more advanced, and no longer carry the "general" title, that they would get smaller. I'm guessing this has something to do with the budget cuts. Also, I've had problems with professors not being totally helpful in class and not showing up to office hours. A professor once told a whole lecture hall to NOT ask questions in class.

Now, this being said, Rutgers is not all bad. Everyone is different...I guess I could've benefited more from a smaller school. Who knows?..there's always grad school...

"A professor once told a whole lecture hall to NOT ask questions in class."

I can't really blame him for that, especially if it's some class where there are 400 or so students. But I would hope that they'd assign several TA's for a class like that.
