I read the fine print on the admission ticket and saw at the last minute that the TI-89, which is allowed for the SAT, is NOT allowed for ACT? What is the point of this craziness....allowed for one, but not for the other?

The ACT goes into the world of Advanced Algebra and Trig. With a TI-89, you can easily plug in a log function or a trig function and a TI-89 will spit out an answer. The TI-83 and 84 do not have those capabilities.

The SAT Math section deals more with logic and problems within problems, so the TI-89 doesn’t actually provide any edge.

Okay, now that makes sense! Thanks for explaining the difference in the Math between the two tests.
