Why is Villanova so lopsided?

It seems like there is a huge difference between the stats of the people entering the business school at Villanova and the rest of the university (mainly the college- with the most amount of students). The average SAT scores are much much lower for the college than they are for the business school (which I have been told is over 1400?!?!?!- very strange). I feel like the school would be very imbalanced and not everyone would be on the same level. What do you think.

According the the VSB website, the average SAT score for the accepted applicant was between 1360 - 1440. That’s for accepted, not enrolled, and usually statistics for enrolled students are slightly lower. Case in point: the students the university as a whole accepted have SAT scores between 1320 - 1430, while enrolled students in the whole university have a mid-range of 1200 - 1390. The majority of students enrolled at the business school probably don’t have SAT scores above 1400 if this information is correct.

lol okay i think i get it… thanks

you all suck
im going to a seminary!

The reason the SAT average is higher for the business school is because there are the most applicants for it out of all other Villanova colleges since it is probably Villanova’s best program. This makes it more competitive because there are still a limited number of spots. If you have noticed, for many colleges, their business schools are usually the most competitive programs to get into because of such a high demand for them and limited spots (Stern, Carroll, and even Wharton is harder to get into than CAS). And for Villanova, I think the business school has the most students, not the college. According to collegeboard, 33% of undergrads are business majors, which is the most I have seen outside of specialty schools such as Babson. I would not say the school is imbalanced; when I visited Villanova the other day, none of the tour guides (all undergrads) were business majors.

The College definitely has the most students; if you look at the enrollement report on the registrar’s page, in 2008 the school had about 3150 students in Arts and Sciences versus 1822 in Business.

Wow CollegeBoard must have some really inaccurate data.

^ yeah you have to pay them if you want the data to be accurate. :-)

Not to drag this thread off topic, but I felt an urge to let you all know that my previous post in this thread was not made with my knowledge. A ‘friend’ thought that it would be amusing.

I apologize, and please continue with the discussion at hand.
