Why isn't USC one of the top colleges on college confidential?

It makes no sense, and it annoys me every time I try and log on here. It should be on the top universities list for sure.

seriously! i totally agree!

East coast and traditional bias.

I also agree… if UMich, Emory, UCLA is up there i think that USC deserves a spot also

wow i also see UVA and UNC there. USC definitely needs to be there. I wonder if there is a petition for that…

USC HAS to be THERE!!! D:<

Politics man, politics.

Totally agreed. Is there anything we can do together to make it happen? What are the steps to make such a change? I have to be very honest, the kids from our regional schools going to USC with merit scholarship this year give away some ivy league colleges or ivy like colleges to attend USC, definitely USC is rising in its national ranking. I would hope the CC administrator will recognize this trend and make the appropriate changes.

alamemom: we need you to help us on this :-). Can you lead us to make this happen? Thanks!

If schools like UNC, UMich, and UVA are on there, then there is absolutely no reason why USC shouldn’t be on that list. Also, the USC forum is popular as hell too - I’m going to bet more so than most of the colleges on that list.

lol yea USC is definitely as good as UNC, UMich and UVA! So USC has to be there!

Well if the CC Top Uni list is based on the Usnews rankings, USC is higher ranked than those three.

It’s actually ranked below UVA, which is tied at 24th with UCLA. USC is currently just outside of the “Top 25” in the widely quoted USNews rankings.

However, USC’s upward trend in rankings over the past decade means it’ll soon be cracking the top 25. CollegeConfidential really has no excuse to exclude USC when that (inevitably) occurs, as it already has two formerly but no longer 25 top residents, Michigan and UNC, in the “top colleges and universities” parent forum.

Yeah, you’re right about UVA. Forgot about it being tied with UCLA. Here’s to hoping USC surpasses those two next time the rankings are updated! I didn’t realize UNC and Michigan used to be in the top 25. So they’re going DOWN the ranks? Ouch.

Every year as USC has steadily climbed in the national rankings, growing in prestige and quality of admits this thread appears. There has never, as far as I know, been a response from those who run this site.

Maybe we should try again.

Who DO run this site? How can you even contact them?

If you go to “Discussion Home” on the left menu and scroll all the way down, there is a section called “Community and Forum Issues.” You can post suggestions there. This comes up every year, and many have tried to get it changed. They generally resapond either that the site was originally set up as it is and cannot be changed (oh PLEEEEEEASE!), or that if they moved USC there would be a rush of demands to move others and to know what ranking system was used to determine what school is a “top school…”

Can’t hurt to try once again. I kind of prefer it isn’t listed there - I would hate to see a flood of applications from the people who apply to schools only because of their rankings and listings as a “top school.” I want applicants who took the time to find us and want to go to USC because it IS USC!

Since I have been on CC and browsing the USC section, this topic has come up a number of times and each time someone tries to start a “Everyone post here!” petition. Try using the search function to find the old threads which contained all of the speculative reasoning as to why this is not listed as a top school.

It just makes me mad. I mean, it clearly should be listed, and cc is a business (they should be trying to please their customers.)

Well, their customers are the advertisers, not the users ('cause we don’t pay anything to use the site). So maybe the advertisers don’t care where USC is listed.
