<p>Just because 30% of America is black or Hispanic does not mean blacks and Hispanics comprise 30% of those deserving admission to Princeton.</p>
<p>While I am not against with the concept of affirmative action, I think it really should be socioeconomically based, especially since we’re talking about enhancing social mobility. Yes, poor people tend to be black or Hispanic, but the blacks and Hispanics who end up at Ivy League universities are often rather affluent, which suggests that the AA efforts at these schools are, in some measure, being wasted on those who don’t particularly need it.</p>
