I am really surprised to see very little communication from SCU. I constantly get emails and mailings from many top schools including Ivys. I registered for open house, but only got one email, not like other schools that want to keep in touch. Is it because I am not Christian and they are not interested in me even though my stats are above their 75 percentile?
In my view, schools blast advertising for a reason - they want to improve diversity, they want to reduce their admit rate, they want to bolster their overall student profile, etc. SCU may just have what they need/want, why spend money to get something they already have? If you’re interested, reach out to them.
Colleges blast high school students with mailers to increase applications. The more applications the more people they can reject which drives down the admit rate which is a big factor in the US News rankings. All that info can be found online for any school you are interested in. If your stats are above the 75th percentile I’m sure SCU and lots of other colleges are interested in you. Good luck.
It is silly to think because you are not Christian…can’t even go there. SCU doesn’t spend zillions of dollars on marketing to the masses because they don’t need or care to increase their app count. They would rather use the money they have to give back in others ways (the Jesuit mantra is support and serving community/others), and I am fine with that. As a marketing professional, I can tell you that those mailers mean nothing except, “Send us $80 and your application.” Zero relevance to them being interested in you. They can send you 30 pieces of mail, you can be at the highest percentiles and a school still won’t accept you, so don’t get suckered by the mailers. It is a false sense of security.
If a student is interested in being pursued by a school, although mailers by ivys is really just pursuing a students application and not the student, than a school like SCU is probably not a good fit. Men and Women for Others is the rule of the day at SCU and other Jesuit universities. Can you see the difference in those two sentences?

^^^ THIS!!
If I could I would have this message posted at the top of EVERY CC forum page to alert students.
SOOOOOOOOOO many kids are headfaked each year into believing that colleges who send THEM material that they did NOT ask for MUST be REALLY interested in THEM!
they. aren’t.
