Why should I care about my senior grades?

I’m so freaking exhausted. I’m a straight A student but I can’t do this anymore. Can I just let loose and get a few B+ or maybe B? I’m not applying to top schools anyway…

Rule of thumb for most schools is no D’s or F’s Senior year but the standard’s are set by each school. A few B’s will not hurt you.

You want to show consistency throughout high school. Like the person before me said, keep your grades at a B+ minimum, but don’t let super loose and fail a class or get a C. If you’ve only gotten A’s then they’ll notice if suddenly your transcript shows all B’s. It might not cause a school to resend your admissions decision, but you don’t want to chance it.

College admission offers are conditional on doing well enough in previously reported in progress courses. Some colleges list specific GPA and grade conditions, while others say that they expect you to maintain the same level of academic performance that you had previously.

Also, finishing high school strong will mean that you will be better prepared for college.

But really, two or three Bs won’t hurt you, particularly if you’re not applying to the most selective colleges. And your mental health is most important. It’s just not worth it to kill yourself to get straight As.

My oldest slacked off at the end of high school, after getting her university acceptances, and got one 88 – still a B+ but the lowest grade she had ever had in her life. No one cared and she did fine.

Continue with A’s in your stronger classes. Try to avoid C’s and definitely don’t get any D’s.

However, be aware that a commonly started type of thread in May/June every year is “will my college admission be rescinded for [senior year grades lower than previously]?”.
