I was filling out the MIT app and saw that they really don't care what Math test you take - they said they had NO preference. While many applicants can pull very high scores on the Math II, an even higher number can pull great scores on the Math I. Does it make sense to take both and just submit the higher score?

Because it's easier to get a higher score in the Math IIC apparently BECAUSE you can get more wrong and the curve is better -- I think you can get up to 4-5 wrong? and still receive an 800. On the Math IC h/o, you can get 1 wrong and BAM, it's like 60 points. Haha... :(

And anyways, if you were good at math in the first place and consistently scoring high scores, you'd want to take the IIC anyways, because it's easier for them to make STUPID mistakes (costing you many points on the IC) then ones you don't know how to do...

Same reason people prefer the BC calc AP to the AB calc test

And you believed them?

Nearly everyone applying to MIT will have taken Math II and done well.

Okay. Yeah, I am definitely the king of stupid mistakes. On the previous test in Calc (I guess it was a pre-Calc test just to make sure we belonged in the class - yes I passed), we were asked to write the equation of a graph of a trig function. The period was clearly 12, but I decided that it was only 11. I can't count. I can't add either, but that's a different story.

Hey man, GoldShadow, what motivation would MIT have to LIE on their app? They tell all on their site, why wouldn't they be honest. Give me three reasons why they would lie.

Are you kidding?

Hey man, you're TOTALLY judging me off my question. My Math II is on the lower end of MIT's average (on the other hand, I took the test after I pulled an all nighter to finish work for a contest). If its so incredibly obvious and my question is so outrageous, why haven't others sided with you and agreed that my question is really a joke. No, I'm not kidding.

Look, I as you have done well on the Math II (you may of done better than me and frankly I don't care). Please tell me, the naiive person I am, what motivations MIT would have to lie on its app.

MATHII looks much better than I
