^God, racism is RAMPANT in Europe. Many people there hate the Middle Eastern Immigrants coming into Europe; in fact, one nominnee for an office in the Italian government tried to push his campaign with the total cease of immigration to keep a "pure Italian population."

Are you talkin' about S. Berlusconi there?

What we all need to get straight is that racial differences are real. Those who deny this are irrational and are not scientists.

No. There's a difference between racial and environmental differences. Obviously, people who grew up in the desert will be vastly different from people who grew up in the arctic. Does this prove the existence of race? No more than the differences between you and your sibling provide the proof of two different fathers/mothers. The belief of race implies that there are certain people who will possess certain traits not due to their environment, but because of their genetic makeup. Since all of our genetic blueprint are the same save for miniscule differences, such emphasis on that minute difference is ridiculous.

What are these racial differences anyway? Please don't say the ultra-racist "blacks are strong but dumb, Asians are weak but smart, and whites are the perfect blend".

It's a fact that most athletes come from poor backgrounds. Are poor people inherently better athletes than middle-upper class people? Of course not. We all share the same genes. But it's the social aspects, as poorer people have less avenues of success, thus having to resort to the "1-in-a-million" shot that is sports. Most people who are better off take safer routes, such as university, in order to achieve prosperity. This is what happens to the black community: whatever advantage they have as a result of their environmental adaptation is exploited to the point where many people believe that that is their only redeeming value.

For example, it's almost a universally acknowledged fact that no non-black sprinter will ever emerge victorious in the Olympics. Some of that may have truth in the fact that Western Africans have the ideal body for sprinting, but how much of this is psychologically imposed nowadays? Remember when Roger Bannister broke the 4-minute mile, then everybody started to achieve the same goal? The mind is a powerful thing, and black dominance in certain sports can be attributed to mental as much as physical reasons.

BTW, Liu Xiang, a Chinese man, is now the fastest 110m hurdler in the history of the world. I wonder what kind of psychological effect this will have for all the athletes in the world.

If we accept the Out of Africa theory, let's say that the default human being looks like, say, Michael Jordan. Then all the "races" are merely degrees of deviation from the "norm". Where's the arbitrary transitions from merely deviation to race? Who decides that? And the results have huge implications because of the obsession the world has with race.

Race is a term that shifts according to the times. In America, there were times when Germans, Irish, and Italians weren't considered whites. When they "paid their dues", they were "allowed" to become whites. Thus, "white" is not so much a race as a privilege to be in the most powerful club in society. And that's what race really is: a bunch of clubs and cliques in this high school of a world; a system that allows people to belong and oppress others. Its pessimistic brilliance lies in the fact that it preys upon the extreme superficiality of human nature: the people's acceptance of a fundamentally flawed system because of their inability or unwillingness to see each other as equals because of skin tone or facial structure.

Amen bro.
That's a brilliant reply. I couldn't agree more.
Let's just remember what horrors the nazis did to every one who was not blond and blue-eyed, cauz that was how pure Germans were supposed to be. Hitler thought only one race was worth living and that race was the Aryan race (the pure Germans). That's complete nonsense...

We should occasionally remind ourselves that we're all African if we simply go back far enough. This has been theorized for quite some time based on fossil evidence but now genetic evidence is proving it even further. So, that other race that someone hates is actually related to them!

That was a wonderful response nbachris2788.
