For my application for Tulane, which was the one on the Tulane website, I wasn’t aware that the Why Tulane question was actually an optional essay. I wrote a few, but honest, sentences about why I was interested in Tulane and then submitted my application.
My question is- is this okay? Should I try and unsubmit my application (is that possible) or should I just let it be?

It isn’t really optional. Not filling it out usually indicates Tulane is not a very serious consideration of yours. Probably best to leave it be.

Thank you! Would it be worth it to unsubmit it and write an essay for the question, since it is one of the colleges I’m serious about?
You don’t have to officially unsubmit it. Just write your new one and email it to your admissions person with a cover note saying you decided that your “Why Tulane” statement wasn’t enough, now that you have been reading much more about the school and the city. They will put the new essay in place of the old one, or at least in addition. That will be fine. @earthtoabby
