Hello, I’m going to apply in “Phillips Exeter, Andover, Choate, Middlesex, Milton, Deerfield”.
My school’s final exam finished on December 13th. From December 13-23, I completed all of my essays.
Now, Tomorrow ( I need rest man) I will start my SSAT’s Preparation. I want to get a Score of 2200+.
Okay, Let me tell you guys about my problems.
I have no problem with "Quantitative (Math) Section and Reading Comprehension Section ".
I only have problem in “Verbal Section”.
I only have 13 days. I will take my SSAT exam at 6th January.
Now, Will 13 days be enough to prepare for the SSAT test?
I’m kind of in the same situation as you. I feel very confident in the Quantitative and Reading Section but a little nervous for the Verbal. Quizlet will help you a ton. Since you have limited time, I would study root words more so than vocabulary because it’s hard to memorize a lot of words in 13 days.
Before taking the SSAT, I had a predicament similar to yours, though Quantitative was my weakness. In the end, I scored pretty well, so I might be able to help you a bit. I would recommend that you try using Quizlet, which is pretty helpful for memorizing words. If you have a practice book, maybe look at some of the strategies in there for verbal. From now to the day of the test, try to read material with advanced words. Best of luck!
Well, it took me a long time but a few days before mine, I managed to memorize about 170 words. However, only 5 or 6 words I studied from came out on the test. So I’d say it depends a bit on luck but it will definitely help if you go one Quizlets. I studied here.
I would recommend trying to memorize word roots over a vocab list on Quizlet. When I was studying (I crammed in 4 days, so I’m not a good example) I spent too much time on memorizing vocab, which ended up hurting my vocab score and I only got a 750.
I think you’re looking for 2250+ because anything less wouldn’t necessarily meet the fixed threshold. More than 95th percentile would be a bonus, but just meeting it is okay.
Don’t stress yourself! You got this! I thought I was going to get a terrible score before the test, and there were a lot of tears, but I ended up getting 95th percentile on test day.
the official online ssat practise, i would argue, is THE best resource that i had (and trust me, i had a lot). They give you simulations of the exams, with lots of practise questions and they tell you how you went wrong and the relationships.
