I think im going to get a B+ in Calc AB AP and I want to be an engineer. I have gotten an 800 on SAT I math and plan on getting it on Math IIC. Do you think my chances are gone? :'( (i shouldnt say this because of all the debate it will cause, but i am mexican)

Schools: Stanford, MIT, Caltech, U of CHicago, etc you get the pic

yes, did YOU see them? people with 4.0 GPAs and straight A's were being passed over by people who were unique, but not necessarily perfect grades. not everything is about gpa.

You said you wanted to be an engineer; I thought I should point out that UChicago doesn't have an engineering program. Not sure if you're aware of that or not.

To answer your question, no, I would relax and not worry about it. Like cubfan implied, the subjective aspects of your application are going to tip the scales one way or the other, not a 3.99 vs. a 4.00.

i had a 4.5 weighted gpa last sem (junior yr), which was straight As

but this sem i'm probably gonna get 2 b+s and 1 b or sth liek that.

i dont even care anymore.
i mean i'm working really hard, its just there were so mnay objective factors this sem, mainly all my teachers changed to crazily hard grading ones. and i'm at the pt where i'm so sick of stressing, cuz its not like you can do much about it.

the best thing to do is keep thing sin perspective and realize, its not the endo fthe world if u dont get into a college cuz u've got a b+. go on to do great things in life later on! :D haha~

Is a B+ as good as an A? No.
Is a single B+ likely to be the deciding factor on admission anywhere? No.

This.

If you have a 5 on the AP test, and 800s on the SAT I and II math...schools will be pretty sure that you can handle their required math coursework. They are not going to look askance at your B+.
