Will a C+ hurt me, and if so, how much??

3.75 Unweighted and 4.25 weighted gpa
Honors and APs taken:
Freshman year: Alg 2/Trig honors(highest math class for freshmen)
Sophmore Year: Chemistry Honors and Geometry Honors(highest math class for sophs)
Junior Year: AP US 1(they split ap us into 2 years in my school), Precalculus Honors(highest math class for juniors), Biology Honors, English 3 Honors, Computer Science Programming Honors
Junior Year Summer: AP Micro and AP Macro economics (got an A+ in both) (taking exam in senior year) and Introduction to Psychology (got an A because there is no A+ in the college) at a local Community College
Senior Year: AP Calculus AB (highest math class for seniors), AP US History 2, AP Physics 1, AP Statistics, English 4 Honors
Extra Curriculars: Had 4 jobs throughout my 4 years in high school, Varsity Crew, Vice President of 2 Clubs and the founder of another club. Community service through 3 summers

All of my grades have been mostly A’s, A+s, and Bs, I have NEVER had a grade lower than a B in my entire highschool career until semester 1 of senior year, where I got a C+ in AP US History 2
I am applying to NYU College of Arts and Sciences (Computer Science), Carnegie Mellon University (Computer Science), Stevens Institute of Technology (Computer Science), Northeaster University (Computer Science), RPI (Computer Science), Rutgers University - Newbrunswick (Computer Science), and Boston University (Computer Science).

All of my Midyear grades were not as good as I was expecting. My Freshman sophmore and junior grades were usually (B+ in honors english all 3 years, A+ in all math courses throughout highschool, A+ in Computer Science Honors, B+ in Science courses, A in freshman history and B+ and B (sem 1 and 2 respectively) in AP US History 1, A’s in all language courses)
Mid Year Grades this time were:
AP Calculus: B+, AP Statistics: B+, AP Physics: B, AP US History 2: C+, English Honors: B+, and A in a 1 year elective course

Will this 1 C+ kill my chances at these colleges and if so, how badly??? Please give feedback, I AM SUPER STRESSED.

I don’t think it will kill your chances, although it won’t look good that your grades in general are lower than your first three years.

Either way, it’s too late to stress, applications are already in.

I can’t comment on the top schools (super competitive for everyone really) but I think you have a good chance still at Stevens and possibly RPI, Did you consider WPI or Rochester Inst. of Tech by the way?

I did consider them, but at the time I assumed that I would get atleast NYU or CMU because my MP1 grades were great, so I thought that I wouldn’t need to apply to RIT or WPI if I got into Stevens or RPI. And then MP2 came in and destroyed me and lowered my semester average and now I regret not applying to them.

It can definitely hurt you for NYU or CMU if you do not have a good reason to explain it.
