Will a philosophy course satisfy Berkeley's English critical thinking class?

I have read the transfer criteria for the EECS program and I saw that a course in Critical Thinking and Advanced Composition, UCB R1B, is required, and I was wondering, must I take a course that specifically articulates with ENGLISH R1B as per the articulation agreement on Assist.org? or will a philosophy course that satisfies the Critical Thinking-English Composition section of the IGETC satisfy that requirement ?
Thanks

Choose a course listed as articulating to English R1B.

What part of the ASSIST report is not clear about that requirement?

It’s not about being unclear. Its that I had previously taken a philosophy course that satisfies the critical thinking IGETC requirement, I had to choose between English or Philosophy, and I chose philosophy. So I was wondering if I’m going to end up having to take English or not.

You do whatever ASSIST tells you to do for your given major … especially with a major as competitive as EECS.

In other words, IGETC is not considered for this purpose, and you must complete a course that articulates to English R1B.
