Will AdComs take this EC seriously?

My biggest EC is freerunning (~20hrs a week), and I was wondering if adcoms would take it as a serious EC. My worry is that they will think that it’s not a “real sport”

A little about me and freerunning:

While parkour is defined as the most efficient way to get from point A to point B, freerunning includes movement, flips, and style from point A to point B.

Out of the three freerunning gyms that use the same ranking system, I’m ranked #1 (out of 1000+ students)

I am the only black band (equivalent to a black belt) within the three academies

I was given a full-time paying job in December to work as a coach

I was just offered a spot on the freerunning committee for the Olympics as it will hopefully be a sport in 2024 (I will help with developing the scoring, course, etc.)

I’m going to compete internationally in September; I will find out where I rank out of all of North America (predicting top 20).

I know I can’t be recruited for this but I think it will add a lot to my app. Do you guys think adcoms will take it seriously?

It’s clear that you are very dedicated and passionate about your sport and I think most admissions officers will recognize that.

Definitely. You should write about it, too–it’s very interesting (I’m super intrigued, for example!).

This is definitely super unique, and something admissions officers probably won’t ever have seen before. You should certainly include it in your app, and as @marvin100 writing about it would allow you to expound on it further.

Agree with everyone else. You spend an awful lot of time doing it though, so please remember that grades are super important. Don’t let it affect your academic performance.

I think it sounds really cool and something that AdComms won’t have seen before! And you sound really accomplished within it as well.

They certainly should take it seriously. You have quantifiable accomplishments in the sport.
