Will Amherst continue to stay need-blind to internationals?

Following Middlebury’s recent withdrawal from the league of elite schools need-blind to both domestic and international students, do you guys see Amherst following the same path in the admissions cycle for the class of 2014?

At the admitted students overnight program, Tom Parker and Tony Marx (Amazing speaker) both said how Amherst was doing everything it could to make sure that all the policies in effect now will remain the same. That is not to say that it definitely will, but at a time like this, they are not cutting things, but increasing them such as hiring more faculty members. Not sure long this will last but at least as of 1 week ago, that’s what Amherst said.

With a $10 million, $16 million, and $21 milion deficit facing it in the coming three years if nothing large is cut from the budget, it will be very hard not to pull back on staffing levels or financial aid, even though it is the highest of high priorities of Amherst.

See this recent article in the school newsaper:

I jolly well hope so. There are very few colleges currently need-blind to internationals; Amherst is one of a steadily decreasing bunch.
