My ACT composite is 34 which may not be impressive for applying engineering major? My weakness is Reading- I got 30. The rest: Math 35, English 36, Science 36. Will AO look at each subscore? Will higher STEM scores be helpful?

Depends on the school. Michigan engineering told us that the only subscore they look at is math, in addition to a single sitting composite score. Cornell engineering looks at all subscores but does not calculate a new superscore across multple exams. From what I remember, Columbia only looks at a single composite score and doesn’t consider subscores. Some schools do superscore the ACT - Washington University in St. Louis is one. You will have to read up on each school to see how they treat the ACT.
