One of Caltech’s websites show that decisions will be released mid-March, but will they ever announce an exact date?
There are two other threads asking the exact same question.
They seem to usually email out the official date ~4-5 days before the actual decision. It is almost always before MIT (which hasn’t been confirmed but will probably be pi day, since it’s the extra special 3/14/15) and I think the fact that UChicago is releasing on the 13th will push Caltech back to the 12th. This is all speculation, of course. Check your email or the admissions announcement box on the page for updates.
Yeah, it is confirmed that MIT will release their decision on pi day. And it will be extra EXTRA special because it will be at 9:26.
Caltech posted an announcement with the date and time that ED decisions would be posted several days in advance of that release. That posting was on http://www.admissions.caltech.edu/.
I should add that no email was sent out in advance to announce the release date. The “announcement” posted on the website was the only heads up ahead of time.
MIT has officially confirmed pi day as their release date. I wonder if Caltech was waiting for confirmation of that date so they can schedule to release before. Or maybe they hate us and will actually send them out tomorrow (since they used to do the Saturday before MIT) just to be trolls (I’m kidding!).
The word that got starred, btw, was not a swear (it was a word that starts with t and ends with roll)
I can say with confidence that they will be released before next Saturday. AFAIK, all decisions have already been made and they’re just waiting to release.
Does anyone else find it very strange that they haven’t announced when they will release?
Southpaw45, yes I find it very strange. According to what you said though (“They seem to usually email out the official date ~4-5 days before the actual decision. It is almost always before MIT”), they should announce the date later today (Sunday) or Monday (March 9th).
Actually, I think I was wrong about the announcing for RD. They announced early for EA. However, for last year RD (according to the thread) they announced THE DAY OF.
Well, at least it saves applicants from becoming overly stressed about the decision being released. (Not that we don’t get stressed before the announcement…)
I heard from a coach that decisions will be released on 3/13!
Wow, can’t wait.
I’m very surprised that they would announce the same day as UChicago since there is so much overlap in applicants (especially for EA). I thought the reason that they announced before MIT and other schools is so the excitement of getting into Caltech isn’t overshadowed by another school.
solarstorm92: From which coach did you hear this information? And how did he/she come about telling you?
Does someone want to call the admissions office to confirm? I would but I’ve already called and I don’t want to be THAT person…
It’s already Monday afternoon, and they haven’t even announced exactly when they will release the decision.
Email from Caltech Admissions, received today at 2.00 pm EST:
"Dear …,
We cannot give the exact date at this point. Please note that you will receive an email within a week notifying you when decisions are ready. We will also make a web announcement.
Regards,
Associate Director of Admissions".
Hope it helps!
Did you send them an e-mail asking, and they replied with this e-mail?
Or did they automatically notify you with this e-mail?
I didn’t get the e-mail.
