Will colleges see that I was taking honors courses?

Our course titles don’t explicitly say “Honors” on them after middle school and instead they have a course ID tag that indicates that it is an Honors class or section. Will that be on the transcript? (sorry if this sounds like a stupid question)

Ask your counselor for a copy of your transcript to find out for sure.

ask your Guidance counselor how they do this for colleges…

Know that, while this is your first time through the process, it’s not for your school.

Something on your transcript will indicate which courses are honors and which are not.

A school profile will be sent along with your HS transcript and that should give admissions officers the information needed to determine which level classes you have taken. As noted above, your guidance counselor can confirm this.

It looks like you might be a freshman in HS. If that is the case, really it is too early spend your time thinking about the details of your college application. More than likely you will get questions like this answered from your guidance office when the time is appropriate.

@happy1 Yeah, I’m a freshman. I just got worried because my sister (junior) was wondering about it and it got me curious.

I am pretty sure colleges will be able to see that you did honors courses. If they didn’t show them, why bother taking them in the first place? You’d be doing more work and getting the same credit as someone who is in a normal level course. So yes, colleges will see that you’ve taken honors courses. If it helps, you can go in for an interview and let them know that the tag stands for honors.
