Will Cornell add first-semester senior year grades to my GPA?

Will they add the grades that I get the first semester of my senior year if I am applying regular decision?

They see it, but it’s not included in your “total overall GPA”. It’s included on your transcript as separate.

^ hunh?

When you apply RD, your school will send the most up to date transcript which will include your first 7 semesters of HS. This is one of the primary reasons why some kids apply RD – to get that 7th semester boost. If you’re taking a rigorous schedule and can get top grades, it’ll definitely be a boost.

After that, Cornell and every other college or university will do with those grades whatever it is that they do with them. Some colleges might compute a new GPA after they receive those grades. Some colleges (e.g., Dartmouth) never compute a new GPA at all. But that doesn’t mean Dartmouth doesn’t care about your grades. They evaluate your transcript very closely; they just believe that they can evaluate your transcript without doing the arithmetic to compute a new average.

You can rest assured, though, if Cornell get your grades from senior fall, they’ll consider them when they evaluate your application.

With 30,000+ applicants I don’t think there is time to “recalculate” GPA’s. I’m sure they have done this enough that they glance at the reported GPA & then look at the core classes to make sure the grades are similar & the courses are the highest level offered at your school. .

Sorry, you’re right.
I didn’t read carefully and thought he was applying early decision.

No to recalculation for early. Yes to recalculation for regular.
